Tuesday's Roundup

BCMS Trojans split two with Warren East

GLASGOW — The Barren County Middle School Trojans split a pair of football games with Warren East on Tuesday night at Trojan Field.

The Trojans lost the seventh-grade game 14-0, but came back to win the eighth-grade game 6-0 on a touchdown pass from Grant Bowen to Matt Bellamy.

“The seventh-grade team is playing a lot better and the defensive units, on both the seventh and eighth-grade teams, have started to play very well,” said first-year BCMS coach Billy Joe Murphy.

“We’ve been making a lot of progress since the beginning of the season. The boys have done a good job of learning the new system.”

Barren County will visit Glasgow on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

– The Glasgow High School Lady Scotties turned up the defense in the second half of their soccer game with Greenwood Tuesday night, but it wasn’t enough to pull out the victory as the Lady Gators rolled to a 6-0 win.

“I was really proud of the way the girls kept fighting and never gave up,” said Glasgow coach Kathy Jones. “Greenwood scored five goals in the first half, but we held them to only one goal in the second half. I was proud of that.”

Glasgow will visit Pulaski County on Saturday, Sept. 15.

– The Glasgow Lady Scotties came up short in volleyball action Tuesday night. Glasgow dropped a 2-0 decision to visiting Hart County, losing 25-8, 25-20.

– The Barren County Lady Trojans got a round of 42 from Jill Florence Tuesday evening and slipped by with a 170-171 golf victory over Warren East.

Florence led the charge for the Trojanettes posting a good nine-hole score. Kayla Wyatt also shot a 42 for Barren County, while Kylie Withrow had a 43.

Lyn Dawsyn Steenbergen added to the Trojanettes’ winning round with an impressive 43. Amber Jewell added a 46 and Brooke Renfro followed that up with a 46 of her own.

Cortney Withrow carded a 54 for Barren County and Mariah Hughes had a 68.
