Scotties thump Clinton Co., 6-1

GLASGOW — Glasgow High School Boys Soccer Coach Shaun Goulborne guided his team to a big 6-1 victory over Clinton County Thursday night.

“We were missing Andrew Thomerson and Brandon Chapman, two of our usual starters,” said Goulbourne.

“We had to make some adjustments putting Jonas Bastien up front and Ashab Ahmed in the middle and that worked well for us.

“Bastien scored three goals and Zach Branstetter had his second goal of the season. Seth Bennett also scored for us. Giovanni Basile had several chances but could not find the net.”

Goulbourne went on to say, “Our back four were pretty solid today with Trent Bosse, Seth Taylor, Joshua Garmon and Greg Campbell.

“It was a needed result today to get us back to .500, put us in a good district position, and give us some confidence into our game with Barren next Thursday night.”

– The Barren County High School Trojanettes picked up a big district volleyball win Thursday night when BCHS knocked off Glasgow in three games.

The Trojanettes won the first game 25-18 and followed that up with a 25-21 victory in game two and a 25-9 win in the match finale.

“We played very well tonight,” said Barren County coach Robin McMurtrey. “I am very pleased.”

“With several players out for different reasons,” said Glasgow coach Lauren Shelton.

“The junior varsity girls did a good job of stepping up tonight.”

– The Barren County Trojanettes knocked off Adair County 178-199 in golf action Thursday afternoon.

Kylie Withrow led the Barren County charge with a 41. Amber Jewell came right behind her to post a 42.

Emmory Shipley played well for the Trojanettes, firing a 47, and Mikayla Wyatt had a 48.

– The Glasgow Middle School Scotties slipped by crosstown rival Barren County Thursday night to pick up a 4-3 soccer victory.

– The Barren County Trojanettes couldn’t seem to generate much offense Thursday night in a soccer battle with Logan County.

The Trojanettes fought hard, but came out on the wrong end of a 5-0 decision.

Barren County will host Clinton County on Friday at 6 p.m.
