The Falcons rushed for 277 yards in the game and scored six of their seven touchdowns on the ground. “Our offensive line is getting better every week,” Monroe coach John Petett said. “Our guys up front gave us the edge and it showed. They gave us a lot of good lanes to run in and we have a lot of quality backs that took advantage of that.” Monroe jumped on Adair early with 28 points in the first quarter. Justin Harlan hit Neil Wilson for a 34-yard pass play that put the Falcons up 7-0. Monroe scored its next three first quarter touchdowns on the ground. Caleb Maxey scored on a four-yard run, Tanner Kendall added a 9-yard rushing touchdown and Sheldon Hamilton scored from eight yards out to push the lead to 28-0 in the first quarter. Hamilton broke free for a 66-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that gave the Falcons a 35-0 lead at the half. Jarred Rich added a one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to push the lead to 42-0. Brad Moore scored Adair’s lone touchdown in the fourth quarter. Moore scampered in on a 58-yard run to put his team on the board. He also ran in the two point conversion to make it a 42-8 game. Dillion Vickery scored on an eight-yard run for the Falcons’ final score. Monroe moved to 2-0 with the win, while Adair fell to 0-2 with the loss. Hamilton led the way offensively with six carries for 103 yards and two scores. Kendall rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown while Vickery rushed for 43 yards and a score. Five different Falcons scored in the game. Harlan was 4-of-5 passing for 123 yards and a touchdown. Wilson caught three of those passes for 112 yards and a score. “I’m very surprised with our offense early,” Petett said. “Going into the season we knew that we would have a very solid defense, but thought the offense would have to grow as the season went along.
