Tompkinsvile’s Marci Turner shot a two-round total of 155 and just missed the cut by one stroke at the Duramed FUTURES Tour’s Horseshoe Casino Classic at Lost Marsh Golf Course.
Turner shot a 2-over par 74 in the opening round before firing an 81 in the second round.
It was the first professional tournament for Turner, who finished her collegiate career at the University of Tennessee in May.
Vicky Hurst of Melbourne, Fla., won the tournament.
Tompkinsville duo place well at Musselman-Dunne tourney
LOUISVILLE — Matthew Anderson and and Chad McPherson, both of Tompkinsville, each had strong performances at the 13th event of the Musselman-Dunne Junior Golf Tour held June 26-27 at Shawnee Golf Course.
Anderson shot a two-round total of 142 to tie for second place in the championship boys division. He shot a 68 to open the tournament with the lead and shot a second round 74 for a total of 142. Anderson finished five strokes behind the winner, David Snyder of Somerset.
McPherson shot a 156 to tie for third in the boys 16-18 division. He shot an opening round of 77 and finished up with a 79. McPherson finished eight strokes back of the winner, Nick Conway of Bardstown.
The Musselman-Dunne Tour has 18 events this summer before holding its championship.
