The Trojans’ miscues led to three unearned runs for Warren East in a 3-2 loss in eight innings to the Raiders at the Franklin-Simpson Wood Bat Tournament. The Trojans’ miscues led to three unearned runs for Warren East in a 3-2 loss in eight innings to the Raiders at the Franklin-Simpson Wood Bat Tournament. Zach Gibson was the tough-luck loser on the mound for Barren. He went the distance and gave up three unearned runs on two hits to take the loss. Barren jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Blake Crabtree led the game off with a double. With one out, Tyler Miller grounded out to first to advance Crabtree to third. Jonathan Riddle walked and Josh Crews, in as a courtesy runner for Riddle, stole second. Bart Houchens’ 2-out, 2-RBI double drove in Crabtree and Crews to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead. Four first inning errors led to a run for East. The Raiders tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning before scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth. The Trojans fell to 20-8 with the loss. The Raiders improved to 11-15 with the win. Barren was scheduled to conclude play in the Wood Bat Tournament with games against Apollo and Franklin-Simpson on Saturday. The Trojans are back in action Monday with a 5 p.m. home tilt against Bowling Green.
