Published May 01, 2008 01:13 pm - The Barren County boys track team took first place at its home meet on Tuesday. Trojans win home meet Staff report Glasgow Daily Times GLASGOW — The Barren County boys track team took first place at its home meet on Tuesday.
Glasgow finished third, Monroe County tied for fourth and Metcalfe County finished fifth at the meet. On the girls side, Barren finished second, followed by Glasgow, Monroe and Metcalfe. Allen County-Scottsville won the girls meet. Taylor Austin led the Barren boys with a pair of first place finishes on the day. Austin took first in both the long jump, with a jump of 19-02, and also the triple jump. His triple jump went 38-00. Trevor Adwell won the high jump, Nick Compton finished first in the pole vault, Sebastian Stanley took first in the 110 meter hurdles and Campbell Beals finished first in the long event of the day - the 3200 meter run. Glasgow’s Patrick Stuart was the only other area performer with a first place finish. He took first in the shot put with a throw of 51-05. Kaley Dunbar took first in two long events to pace the Trojanettes on the day. Dunbar finished with the top time in 800 meter run, finishing in 2:42.8, and also took first in the 1600 meter runs with a time of 5:56.9. Monroe’s Ann Marie Gordon also had a pair of first place finishes. Gordon won the triple jump with a jump of 29-07, and had a time of 55.3 seconds to win the 300 meter hurdles. Three Lady Scotties took first in an event. Hannah Holgate won the discus, Randi Norris finished first in the 100 meter dash and Katherine Rogers won the 400 meter dash. Dayla Hurst was Metcalfe’s lone performer to win an event. Hurst won the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:21. Barren’s Jessica King won the high jump, Laura McDaniel took first in the pole vault and Sydney Wininger won the 100 meter hurdles. Results are limited to top 10 finishes due to space limitations.
