Many area schools attended the Junior Beta State Convention last week at the Galt House in Louisville and several came away with top awards.
Area schools and how they placed in the state competition are:
- Barren County Middle School Group Talent, first place; Banner, first place; Campaign Skit, first place; Watercolor, Elliott Shipley, first place; Oil/Acrylic, Josh McCubbin, third place; Quiz Bowl Team, third place; and Speech, Nick Jackson, third place; elected State Junior Beta President, Shelby Briggs.
- Glasgow Middle School Speech, Blair Dennison, first place; Woodworking, Sarah Kate Vaught, second place; Jewelry, third place, Kennedy Pruitt; Living Literature, second place.
- Red Cross Elementary Scrapbook, first place; Cross Stitch, Faith Payne, second place; Group Talent, fourth place.
- Eastern Elementary Watercolor, Emmory Shipley, third place; Sketching, Emmory Shipley, third place; Oil/Pastels, second place, Hunter Anderson.
- Austin-Tracy Elementary Living Literature, third place.
- Highland Elementary Jewelry, Taylor Workman, second place.
- Hiseville Elementary Spotlight Your Club, third place; Banner, second place.
- Metcalfe County Middle School Math, Kristen Compton, second place.
- Park City Elementary Songfest, second place.
- South Green Elementary Scrapbook, third place; Watercolor, Remington Harpe, second place.
