Stith to replace Vincent By AMBER DILLEY Glasgow Daily Times GLASGOW — John Stith, principal of Hiseville Elementary School, was introduced Friday as the new director of finance for the Barren County School District.
Stith will take over for Sarah Vincent, who retires at the end of this school year after 33 years of service. “I feel very fortunate and proud to work with the Barren County School system,” Stith said. “Having worked in other districts, I can completely say this is a great place to be. I feel honored to have the opportunity to serve as the finance director for this district and I know I’ve got some really big shoes to fill.” Vincent said she will be spending the extra time with her new grandbaby and helping Stith with the transition. “I’ll be doing a little training, a little assistance so he’s not lost in finance land,” Vincent said. “He’ll be fine. I think he’ll do a good job.” Stith will take over a budget of more than $25 million in tight economic times. “I’m just going to try to follow Sarah’s example, work with our community partners and the folks in Frankfort to make sure that everybody in this district is well informed with accurate and current financial information so we can make good decisions on how to spend our money in the future,” Stith said. “We can work together to make these decisions that are in the best interest of our students and as a parent who has two future Barren County students, I can honestly say that my motivation to get this job done right has never been higher.” Stith will assume duties as director of finance July 1. Stith became principal of HIseville Elementary in 2005. Prior to that, he was the principal of Larue County High School from 2003-2005 and was assistant principal of Barren County High School from 2001-2003 and taught chemistry at Nelson County High School from 1997-01.
