A little on the left, a bit on the right, some off the top

GLASGOW —

To you, my seven faithful readers, I offer this week’s column. All the topics that could have been expounded upon in this narrow space include special taxing districts (What good is the ability to review a tax increase by fiscal court members when they have no say in whether an increase can occur? It’s kind of like having liability in the actions of jail employees, but having no say in who manages those employees or having no control over hiring and firing of said employees); drone strikes on U.S. soil; the impact of sequestration on schools, federal programs for children from impoverished homes, local tourist attractions such as Mammoth Cave National Park, etc., etc. and so on and so on. You’ve all probably had enough of these topics in recent weeks.

That means it is time for odd news stories from around the nation.
