GLASGOW — Dear Editor,

Jesus said that the greatest in His kingdom will be servants. He modeled this as he served with humility, compassion, integrity, focus and wisdom. Servant leadership is important and deeply impacts any family or organization.

When I think of a servant leader in Barren County, Kent Keen is someone who comes to mind. He has been faithful to serve his family, this community and Jesus Christ for many years. Now, he has a new challenge as sheriff of Barren County.

Would you please pray for Sheriff Keen and the department he leads through a time of transition? I’m thankful for Judge Greer’s selection of Sheriff Keen.

Please pray that God would continue to give him wisdom, integrity and discernment as he leads the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.

Phelps is top-notch officer

Dear Editor,

Because I feel compelled to bring my thoughts to your attention, I am writing to you to express my feelings about one of our very promising police officers, Jimmy Phelps.

He has been in law enforcement for a number of years – very able, very experienced, very capable, very responsible and very dependable.

My desire is that Jimmy will receive the honor, acclaim, and respect he deserves.

To have someone of his caliber, with his desire to carry out our laws and to fulfill all the requirements of the office, is a great honor for all of us.

He is a good man and is anxious to serve mankind.

When the opportunity arises, let’s pat him on the back and praise him for all his efforts in our behalf and assure him we support him and are very proud he is in such an important place of responsibility.

Thank you,
