YOUR VIEWS: Taste of Barren has another successful night

GLASGOW — Dear Editor,

The Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce and the Cave City Chamber of Commerce thanks everyone for their support of the seventh annual Taste of Barren County that took place on Oct. 16, at the Cave City Convention Center. It was a delightful evening as area food vendors provided samples of their food to those that attended.

Businesses participating this year were: Gale ‘n Dale’s, Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill, Gondolier Italian Restaurant, Lookout Restaurant at Park Mammoth Resort, Travertine Restaurant at Mammoth Cave National Park, Driftwood Restaurant at Barren River Lake State Resort Park, Mama Lou’s BBQ, Sam’s Club, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Stellar Dining and Catering, T.J. Samson Dining Services, BonAyr Store and Deli, and Sweetheart Bakery. Sponsors were Houchens Market and the Cave City Convention Center.

Vendors voluntarily shared samples of their food to let the public know about the selections of food available when dining out or using a local food provider. Members of the Taste of Barren County Committee appreciate all the people, vendors and volunteers that supported this successful event. Mark your calendar for the eighth Taste of Barren County on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013.

Thanks given for support of Homemaker Week

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Homemaker Week Committee, we wish to express our sincerest appreciation for the community support given during our recent observance of Homemaker Week. It was because of the generosity shown to the Barren County Homemakers that we were able to honor our members.

Barren County Homemakers work diligently throughout the year promoting numerous causes, including the Ovarian Cancer Research with University of Kentucky. Our goal was to honor each of these ladies for their continuous effort and dedication; this was made possible with the big-heartedness of several local businesses. We would like to thank: Awards Inc., South Central RTC, Edie Bell Crafts, Sears, Houchens Market No. 1 (Ben), Houchens Market No. 27 (Roy), The White House Hair Salon (Mandy Birge and Lisa Morgan), Margie’s Total Hair Care (Margie Thompson and Donna Williams), The Speckled Pot (Beckie Waller), Medical Arts, Garcia’s, Pampered Chef (Martha Dickson), Stanley Home Products (Ruth Pace), Edward Jones Financial Services (Shelia Perkins), Serenity Salon and Spa, The Treasured Chest, The Book Store, Judy’s Beauty Salon (Judy Glass), Andrea Haynes - Thirty-One Sales, Joyce’s Primitives, Kerr’s, Melinda Page – Premier Jewelry Sales, Linda Harlow – B. Raye Soap Company, Custom Touch Cleaners, Sara Lee Bakery Outlet, The Quilted Cat (Edwina Spillman).
