Too often we read or hear how bad or poor our medical care and system is in Barren County. I wish to let everyone know that this is not the truth. As a minister I have been in and involved with many hospitals and medical facilities. We are extremely fortunate and blessed to have the level of medical care we have. My personal ordeal began Aug. 6, very early in the morning when I fell out of the bed and my heart had stopped and I was not breathing. My wife began CPR on me. The Cave City First Responders came very quickly, followed by the quick response of the ambulance service. From the time I arrived at the emergency room at T.J. Samson Community Hospital, the level of care and treatment was unsurpassed from every level up. I was treated like a king. Everyone was concerned about giving the best level of care and treatment possible. My problem was one that was hard to diagnose, but the very capable personnel went the second mile to find out what was going on, all the while tending to my family and friends. The Cardiology Department is world class and I know of no other community our size with such a great team. The staff all worked together to meet my needs, and my families’ needs, not just medical, but total needs. I was in and out of the hospital for the better part of a month and the care was consistent, caring and complete. The next time someone complains to you about our doctors, nurses, technicians and hospital, remind them of the great medical community we have. Brother Toby Nunn Cave City
