SMITHS GROVE – Billy Edwards, 79, of Smiths Grove, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at his residence.
He was the son of the late Roger R. Edwards and Martha Jackson Edwards, and the husband of Ezella Napier Edwards, who survives.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hardy and Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Hays Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Jesse Dee Jones
GLASGOW – Jesse Dee Jones, 80, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Barren County the son of the late John Winford and Pearl Ethel Washam Jones. Jesse was a retired superintendent with Gray Construction and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of South Fork Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Furlong Jones; one daughter, Vickie Perkins and husband Tony, of Glasgow; two grandchildren, Ashley Tabor (Adam), of Scottsville, and Judson Perkins, of Glasgow; two great-grandchildren, Georgie and Roman Tabor; one sister, Nettie “Ollie” Ellis, of Glasgow; a sister-in-law, Marie Jones, of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Decker; a brother, Melvin Jones; and four sisters, Annie Hatcher, Altie Short, Gladys Britt and Cordia Wiley.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Bernice Cupp Proffitt
TOMPKINSVILLE – Bernice Cupp Proffitt, of Tompkinsville, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert “Sprockett” Proffitt.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph Roscoe Cupp and Maude Heatherly Cupp.
Visitation will be Wednesday after 1 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Tompkinsville.
