Ella Ruth Berryman
GLASGOW – Ella Ruth Berryman, 80, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Glasgow State Nursing Facility.
She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Bryan and Dora Davis Phillips. She was a former employee of J.J. Newberry Co. and Kmart, and was a member of South Green Street Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie Berryman, and two grandsons, Brad and Matt Berryman, all of Glasgow; a brother, Cleatus Phillips (Beckie), of Glasgow; four sisters, Lois Chase and Frances Proffitt, of Glasgow, Pauline Holman, of Park City and Doris Cherry, of Indianapolis; two sisters-in-law, Hallie Phillips and Lora Jane Phillips, of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John M. and Raymond Phillips; a sister, Mary Phillips; a brother-in-law, W.T. Chase; and a great-nephew, Anthony Miller.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in New Salem Cemetery. Visitation began at 2 p.m. Friday.
GLASGOW – Teddie Christie, 55, Glasgow, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at his home.
He was the son of the late Lester Christie and Alline Morgan Christie Oakes.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jean Christie “Jeanie”; one son, Greg Christie; one daughter, Jennifer D. Jones; five grandchildren: Ashley West, Amber West, Tyler Ray Christie, Brooklyn Christie and Skylar Christie; two brothers: Rollin “Bubby” Christie and his wife Nancy and Freddie Christie, of Florida; one sister, Joyce Cox and her husband Troy, of Florida; one sister-in-law, Rose Christie; eight nieces and nephews: Jeff Christie, Morgan Christie and his fiancé Theresa Huffman, Jennifer Christie Thurman, Micajah Christie, Sarah Christie, Nancy Smith, David Smith and his wife Lisa and Mike Smith; special friends: Bill and Lana, Darrell and Julie Ennis, Ron Kirby and Greg Birge.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie “Jack” Christie, and his stepfather, Lester “Leck” Oakes.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
William E. ‘Bill’ Gumm
CANMER – William E. "Bill" Gumm, 85, of Canmer, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, on his farm, with loved ones by his side, due to old age illness.
Bill was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Canmer, to the late Nell and Spencer Gumm. He was married to Nola Jewell Ogden in March of 1952 and they were divorced in 1961. He married Janice Rose Ross in 1974 and she passed away in March of 2004.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Defries Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30 until 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, and after 9 a.m. until funeral time on Sunday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be given to The Church in Canmer.
CAVE CITY – Beulah Mae Davis, 88, of Cave City, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens.
GLASGOW – Katherine Harlow, 81, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
TOMPKINSVILLE – Chloe Johnson, 85, of Tompkinsville, died Thursday, Nov. 7, at Monroe County Health and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Monroe Baptist Church.
GLASGOW – Mamie G. Shives, 88, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Shives Cemetery in Metcalfe County.
