GLASGOW — Virgil Harrison Chapman Jr.

GLASGOW — Virgil Harrison Chapman Jr., 81, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Hospice House of Southern KY in Bowling Green.

He was born in Paris, Ill., the son of the late Virgil Harrison Chapman Sr. and Eileen Parrish Chapman. Mr. Chapman was a farmer and a member of the Saint Helen’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Leonette Schubert Chapman, of Glasgow; five daughters, Sue Chapman Thompson and husband Kent, of Indiana, Lori Ewing and husband Kerwin, of Louisville, Jackie Chapman, Janette Bartley and husband Steven, and Lisa Vice, all of Glasgow; eight sons, Don Johnson and wife Twyla, and Mike Johnson and wife Kathy, of Bowling Green, Ray Johnson and wife Barbara, of Lexington, Ken Chapman, of Arkansas, Jim Johnson, Rob Johnson, Scott Chapman and Mark Chapman and wife Dana, all of Glasgow; 25 grandchildren, Chad Thompson, of Indiana, Cameron Johnson, Chelsea Watson, Andrea and Emily Johnson, all of Bowling Green, Brittany Mitchell, Drake, Micah and Seth Johnson, all of Lexington, Nathaniel and Joshua Vice, of Florida, Michael and Daniel Ewing, of Louisville, and Aaron and Caleb Vice, Brock and Drew Johnson, Hunter, Andy and Alexis Chapman, Jordan and Jessalyn Bell, Kayla Strode, Whitley and Isaac Bartley, all of Glasgow; six great-grandchildren, Caden Thompson, of Indiana, Wyatt Watson, of Bowling Green, Laila Vice, of Florida, and Emma Mitchell, Olivia Mitchell and William Johnson, of Lexington; one sister, Margaret Chapman, of Arkansas; one niece, Patty Chapman, of Arkansas.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandchild, Chet Thompson.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be after noon Saturday, Oct. 5, at the funeral home.

In addition to flowers, family request that donation made be to the Hospice House of Southern KY, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green KY 42104.
