SMITHS GROVE – Roland Richey, 90, of Smiths Grove, died peacefully with family at his side, Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Hospice House.
The Barren County native was a son of the late Bert and Eula Blanche Lawrence Richey. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Timmy Lewis, and three brothers, Robert Lee, Milton and Clinton Richey.
He was a farmer and owner-operator of R&S Texaco service station in Smiths Grove, a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Smiths Grove Lions Club for 33 years and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Geneva Beckham Richey; four daughters, Brenda Belcher and husband Gerald; Freida Watt and husband Tommy; Marida Carroll and husband Billy; Vickie McChesney and husband Johnny; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

ELIZABETHTOWN – Johnie Melvin Dennis, 75, and Luevenia Hester Dennis, 71, both of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, Aug, 18, 2013, from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle automobile accident in Hardin County. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home. Burial will be in Center Point Cemetery. The family request that memorial donations be made to Center Point Cemetery Fund. These donations may be left at the funeral home.
GLASGOW – Layne Preston Houchens, infant son of Tyler Houchens and Haley Wilkinson, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Edmonton State Bank in the name of Haley Wilkinson for the benefit of Layne Houchens Memorial Fund.
