Kenneth Thurman Coffey
EDMONTON – Kenneth Thurman Coffey, 60, of Edmonton, died Saturday June 1, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
He was the son of the late Thurman and Ann Lavice Brown Coffey and Air Force veteran.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Coffey Family Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Coffey and four children, Shane and wife Natalie Coffey, of Brooklyn, Ind., Missy and husband Rick Hammontree, of Edmonton, Nate Coffey-Teal, of Bowling Green, Shaina Coffey, of Cave City; 10 grandchildren, Jesse, Kaci, Ally, Daphne, Autumn, Declan and Makaylee Coffey, Jade, Dylan and Johnny Hammontree; three brothers, Tommie and wife Carolyn Coffey, of Indiana, Bobby Coffey, of Edmonton, Eugene and wife Brenda Coffey, of Leitchfield; three sisters, Bonnie and husband Tim Hubbard, Barbara Coffey, and Wanda and husband Jimmy Vibbert, all of Edmonton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Dean Coffey.
Velma Louise Parker Houchens
GLASGOW – Velma Louise Parker Houchens, 78, of Glasgow, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Sydney Edgar Witcher and Estella Isabell Tarry Witcher. Louise was a former employee of Kentucky Pants Company and Carhartt and was a member of Shiloh General Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Ray Jewell Parker (Dorthy), of Park City; a brother, Edgar Thomas Witcher (Nancy), of Smiths Grove; a sister, Lucy Jewell Lindsey, of Glasgow; six grandchildren, Tommy Lee Slagle (Kelly), Chad Parker, Edgar Slagle (Robin), Bradley Parker, James Slagle (Brenda) and Jeanetta Lee Jones (Donnie); 14 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Tommy Slagle, of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Mitchell Houchens, and a daughter, Linda Slagle.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
James Herman Hume
GLASGOW – James Herman Hume, 95, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. His arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
James E. ‘Jim’ Morrison
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – James E. “Jim” Morrison, 65, a resident of Naperville, Ill., since 1987, formerly of Glasgow, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet, Ill., after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 13, 1948, in Glasgow.
Loving husband of Jane Lee (nee Voige) Morrison, whom he married June 19, 1971; adored father of Sarah (Daniel) Nowak of Oswego, Ill. and James Scott (fiancée, Kristen Slusarczyk) Morrison of Naperville; beloved “Ops” of Avery Jane (3) and Payton Mary Nowak (2); devoted son of the late James H. and Mary (nee Jones) Morrison; dear brother of Mary (Mark) Ryles, of Lexington, Ky., and June (Thomas) Madison of Union, Ky.; loving brother-in-law of John H. (Lyn) Voige, of Richmond, Va.; fond uncle of eight, great-uncle of six.
Jim grew up in Glasgow and was a graduate of Glasgow High School, class of 1966. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in Lexington with a degree in accounting and later became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Jim owned and operated Morrison Consulting out of Manhattan, N.Y., for the last 15 years.
He was an active member of Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation, enjoyed fishing in Canada, hunting and cheering on the Chicago White Sox.
Memorial visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville.
A celebration of Jim’s life will take place 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, in the funeral home with Reverend Cindy Karis officiating. Interment will follow at Naperville Cemetery.

GLASGOW – Steve Allen Smith, 52, of Glasgow, died Sunday, June 2, 2013.
He was the son of the late Donald Lee Smith and Marjorie Edwards Smith.
He is survived by two daughters, Kesslie Hall, of Glasgow, and Nicole Terrel, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one son, Jason Smith, of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Crislynn Hall, Addalynn Hall, Hailynn Hall, William Robinson, Dayanera Terrell, Keaton Smith and Paysen Smith; two brothers, Lonnie Lee Smith and Kelly D. Smith; two sisters, Marcella G. Smith and Tonya S. Ellis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Jeffries Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

BONNIEVILLE – Orene Louise Stanton, 83, of Bonnieville, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Leslie and Grace Jaggers Copelin and the wife of the late Carlie Stanton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Campground United Methodist Church with burial in Campground Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sego Funeral Home.
