James Lee Martin
GLASGOW – James Lee Martin, 87, of Glasgow, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
He was born in Jefferson County, and was retired after 45 years as a pipe line installer and a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Wheeler Martin, and his mother, Ruby Lee Cox Martin.
He is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Lorene Smith, of Glasgow, and his numerous friends.
Visitation will be at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. until noon, followed immediately with a graveside service at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow.
Arthur Wesley Powell
GLASGOW – Arthur Wesley Powell, 80, of Glasgow, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at NHC Healthcare facility.
Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late Paul Herbert and Fannie Mae Williams Powell. Mr. Powell was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from R.R. Donnelley.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Martin and husband Jerry “J.D.,” of Glasgow, and Tina Garrison and husband Steve, of Etoile; a son, Bruce Powell and wife Dana, of Glasgow; eight grandchildren, Dru Martin, Lacey Martin, Jodie Powell, Will Powell, Megan Garrison, William Garrison, Danielle Elmore and Dakota Pierce; a great-granddaughter, Avery Elmore; two sisters, Emma Laura Childress and Jeanette Furlong; a special friend, Carol Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Lee Powell; two sisters, Anna Lee and Eula Mae Bartley; and a brother, Thomas R. Powell.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
Roger Dale York
FOUNTAIN RUN – Roger Dale York, 58, of Fountain Run, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, in Bowling Green.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Fountain Run Funeral Home with burial in Fountain Run Cemetery.
Visitation is in progress and will continue on Wednesday, after 8 a.m. until service time.
GLASGOW – Mattie B. Buster, 93, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at Hermitage Care & Rehab in Owensboro. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Neal’s Chapel Cemetery.
MUNFORDVILLE – Pearline Dennis, 85, of Munfordville, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at her home in Munfordville. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant View United Baptist Church. Interment will be at Cub Run Cemetery, Cub Run.
