Ella Mae Bryant
GLASGOW – Ella Mae Bryant, 83, of Glasgow, and a native of Metcalfe County, entered into rest on Aug. 13, 2013, at Glenview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Ella was employed by Delco in Kokomo, Ind., and she retired from the Barren County ASCS office in Glasgow. Ella was an active member of Queens Chapel Baptist Church.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Garnett and Evvie Lee Wood Bryant; a sister and brother-in-law, Genobia and Herschel Caudle; a brother, Stanley G. Bryant; and nephews Stanley E. Bryant and Garnett R. Bryant.
Ella is survived by a special nephew and niece, Ronnie and Gayle Bryant, and nephew Donnie (Sheila) Bryant; two special nieces, Martha (Wayne) Mason and Chenita Bryant; several great nieces and nephews, and a host cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Queens Chapel Baptist Church. Interment will be in Wood Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Burnam & Son Mortuary Inc. in Bowling Green.
Jackie Ray ‘Jack’ Christie
GLASGOW – Jackie Ray (Jack) Christie, 67, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at his home.
He was the son of the late Lester Christie and Bernice Morgan Christie. He was a farmer and a member of Hillside Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Houchens Christie; two daughters, Jennifer Thurman and Sarah Christie; two sons, Jeff Christie and Marshall Houchens; three grandchildren, Jake Thurman and his wife Kayla, Luke Thurman and Tristin Christie; one sister, Joyce Cox, of Glasgow; three brothers, Rollin Christie, Teddie Christie and Freddie Christie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Henry Lester “Leck” Oaks.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Joe Luther ‘Jay’ Rice
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Joe Luther “Jay” Rice, 82, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked for more than 53 years at Grady’s Veterinarian Hospital in Fineytown.
He was the son of the late Joe Rice and the late Essie Dice Rice.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Bell Hatchett Rice, Horse Cave; two daughters, Anita G. Brents and the late Leonard Brents, Cave City, Marguerite Rice, Horse Cave; three sons, Billy J. Rice, Cincinnati, Ohio, Antonio “Tony” Rice, Horse Cave, Rayvond Rice and wife Dolly, DeSoto, Texas; three step-sons, Maurice Rice and wife Joyce, Horse Cave, Jardane Rice and wife Michelle, Louisville, Anthony Rice, Cave City; three sisters, Verda Thornton and husband Emmitt, Hattie Perry and husband Johnny, Alice Shirley and husband Ricky, all of Munfordville; one brother, Eugene Rice, Munfordville; special friends, Letticia Townsley, Jeff Grady; very special daughter, Marsha Grady Weiss; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Friendship Baptist Church in Horse Cave, with Rev. Michael Moore and Rev. Michael Rice officiating. Interment will be at Woodsonville Memorial Gardens, Munfordville. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the church.
Brooks Funeral Home in Munfordville is in charge of arrangements.

GLASGOW – Callie Catherine Saltsman Jeffries, 91, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Big Meadow Cemetery.
HORSE CAVE – Gladys Z. Sandidge, 63, formerly of Hardyville, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Caverna Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in New Liberty Cemetery.
