Roger Dale Ballard Sr.
GLASGOW – Roger Dale Ballard Sr., 66, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at his residence.
He was the son of the late George Wilton Ballard and Bertha Alice Poore Ballard.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Ballard; one son, Roger Dale Ballard Jr.; two daughters, Anita Berry and her husband Tim and Pamela Ballard; seven grandchildren, Timothy Berry, Roger Berry, Emily Berry, Noah Ragland, Adam Ragland, Abigail Ragland and Kay-Leigh Duron; one brother, Junior Ballard; four sisters, Bonnie Ballard, Alice Medley, Connie Pulliam and Jeanette Rogers; her son-in-law, Mark Ragland.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Ragland; his brothers, Jerry Lee Ballard, Wayne Ballard and Billy Ballard; his sister, Loretta Ballard; and one grandson, Justin Horton.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at United Faith Independent Church in Griderville with burial in Lighthouse Church Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral home and will continue after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Josie ‘Jo’ Anne Brown
BOWLING GREEN – Josie “Jo” Anne Brown, 94, of Bowling Green, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Glasgow Health & Rehab.
She was a daughter of the late John and Bessie Cole Herndon, and wife of the late Horace Brown.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Chad Matthew Dodson
SCOTTSVILLE – Chad Matthew Dodson, 30, of Scottsville, formerly of Tompkinsville, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, in Scottsville.
He was born in Glasgow on April 23, 1983, a son of Teresa and Teddy Dodson, of Tompkinsville, who survive.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home with Loy Milam officiating. Visitation is in progress and will continue on Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harlans Cross Roads Cemetery.
Stanley Greer Sr.
ETOILE – Stanley Greer Sr., 94, of Etoile, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at NHC Healthcare facility in Glasgow.
He was the son of the late Eugene and Maude Underwood Greer and husband of the late Charles Dean Francis Chapman Greer, whom he married in 1939.
Mr. Greer was a farmer and a carpenter and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member and a deacon of Caney Fork Baptist Church at Etoile.
He is survived by his son, Stanley Cleveland Greer and wife Peggy, of Etoile; three grandsons, Brad Greer, Anthony Greer and wife Joy, all of Glasgow, and Greg Greer and wife Zina Beth, of Etoile; three great-grandchildren, Cody Greer and wife Jessica, Hanna Greer and Gunnar Greer; one great-great-grandchild, Kenzie Greer; a foster son, Eddie Greer and wife Vicki, of Edmonton and two foster grandchildren, Amanda and Christa Greer; two sisters, Bess Williams and Emogene Button, of Glasgow; three brothers, William Dean Greer and wife Shirley, Bill Greer and wife Ann and Paul Greer, all of Glasgow, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Greer, and two sisters, Mary Frances Elliott and Tress Garrett.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Caney Fork Baptist Church with burial in Caney Fork Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home and Thursday morning until 11 a.m. Visitation will continue at the church Thursday from noon until time for the service.
James F. ‘Jimmy’ Jackson
SMITHS GROVE – James F. “Jimmy” Jackson, 77, of Smiths Grove, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at his residence.
He was the son of the late Oakley Wade Hampton Jackson and Pauline Hudson Jackson, and husband of 51 years to the late Wanda Smith Jackson.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home Bowling Green Chapel. Burial will be in Smiths Grove Cemetery
Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Robert J. Martin
GLASGOW – Robert J. Martin, 81, of Glasgow, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013.
Born in Glasgow, he was the son of the late John Burl Martin and the late Vassie Ruth Jackman Martin.
Robert was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, riding horses, boxing and sharing good times with friends and family. He was a retired foreman at Sorensen’s.
Robert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pat; daughter, Michelle Glover, of Glasgow; sons, Terry Williams (Julia), of Glasgow, Tony Martin (Denise), of Jeffersonville, Ind.; grandchildren, Alanda Johnson (Shaun), of Glasgow, Ashley Johnson (Robbie), of Franklin, Tenn., Blake Williams (Amy), of Glasgow, Casey Glover, of Nashville, Tenn., and Amanda Martin, of Jeffersonville, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Julie Johnson, Gracie Johnson, Carly Tabor, Haden Williams, all of Glasgow, and Maclyn Johnson, of Franklin, Tenn.; brothers, Eugene Martin and Gilbert Martin (Norma), both of Glasgow; sisters, Beatrice Glass, Velma Bush, Mary Landrum, Maxine Hawkins (G.A.), all of Glasgow, and Betty Esters, of Cave City; and two very special friends, Christine Sublett and Ashley Rigsby.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by brother, Leo Martin; sister, Lorene Harlow; and many close friends and family.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
Carter Lee Tooley
GLASGOW – Carter Lee Tooley, 60, Glasgow, died Tuesday, Aug.13, 2013, at his residence.
A native of Barren County, he was the son of the late Guy and Fannie Kirkpatrick Tooley. He was a machine operator at Nemak in Glasgow.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Tooley; one son, Brandon R. Tooley and his wife Heather, of Glasgow; two grandchildren, Chloe Tooley and Braxtyn Tooley; his parents-in-law, Estes and Linda Miller, of Glasgow.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in White Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Cletis Ray Zackery
GLASGOW – Cletis Ray Zackery, 67, of Glasgow, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
Born in Warren County, he was the son of the late Rollie and Bea Dunham Zackery. Mr. Zackery was a member of Neal’s Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army. He was also an avid rabbit and coon hunter and was retired from SKF Manufacturing.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Taylor Zackery, of Glasgow; a son, Stanton Zackery and wife Brandy, of Bowling Green; a daughter, Tori Hunt and fiancé Junior Carter, of Cave City; three grandchildren, Dakota, Morgan and Zackery; a sister, Leta Nunn and husband Larry, of Bowling Green; a brother R.J. Zackery and wife JoAnne, of Bowling Green; seven nephews and two nieces.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Neal’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
GLASGOW – Mary F. Hagan “Granny” Hodges, 92, of Glasgow, died at her home in Glasgow, Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in White Cemetery.
DECATUR, Ill. – James E. Strode Sr., 75, of Decatur, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, in his home. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial with “Flight Home” ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family in c/o Margaret Strode.
