Avon L. Black
LOUISVILLE – Avon L. Black, 89, of Louisville, and formerly of Glasgow, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, in Louisville.
Born in Newroe, he was the son of the late Floyd and Hassie Walker Black and husband of the late Velma Mae Mitchell Black. Mr. Black was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow where he formerly served as a Sunday School teacher. He was also a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army, a former Boy Scout Leader and a graduate of the University of Tennessee.
Survivors include two sons, David Black and wife Ann, of Louisville, and Roger Black and wife Julie, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; five grandchildren, Allison Black, Nathan Black, Michael Black, Thomas Black and Jennifer Black; and a brother, Ernest Black and wife Lavelle, of Westmoreland, Tenn.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Black.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery, Military Honors will be provided by D.A.V. Chapter #20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
James ‘Jim’ Terrell Barbour
LOUISVILLE – James “Jim” Terrell Barbour, 81, of Louisville, formerly of Glasgow, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. During his life, he touched many lives. He was retired from General Electric.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Hazel Denham Barbour; and brother, Ronald Barbour.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Betty; sons, Deno (Geneva), Todd (Suzanne) and Shane (Kristy); grandchildren, Brittney, Dylan, Andrew, Brooke, Jaeden and Taylor; sisters, Ilo Isenberg and Marjorie Billingsley (Johnny); and also a host of relatives and friends.
Many of you had your own relationship with Jim, each with your own set of memories and your own picture that best describes him. Jim was a loving, caring and Godly man who thought the world of his family. Our family is who we are because of who he was. Jim now has to suffer no longer and can spend eternity pain free in Heaven. We will always miss him, but some day will be with him again to rejoice in Heaven.
Funeral ceremony was 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Victory Baptist Church, 7808 Beulah Church Road, Louisville. Burial was in Lebanon National Cemetery, in Lebanon. Newcomer Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Brent’s desire was to be cremated and a Celebration of Life service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday from 2 p.m. until time for services at the funeral home.
