Carrie Helen Lester Garrett
OREM, Utah – Carrie Helen Lester Garrett, formerly a long-time resident of Beaumont, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Canyon Cove Assisted Living in Orem, Utah.
She was born July 24, 1932, to the late Sanford Ezra Lester and Hylus Lee White Lester. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Murison Garrett and four brothers, Murl, Tennyson, Raymond and Wayne Lester.
“Helen” had a passion for cooking and fed numerous missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, of which she was a faithful member. Her church, her family and her many neighbors and friends brought her much joy and contentment. She took great pride in keeping a nice home and also loved canning home-grown food and reading. In her later years, she kept busy as a home-health caretaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Diane Neal, of Orem, Utah; her son, James Nathan Garrett (Freida), of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; sisters, Juanita Miller and Hazel McFarland, of Glasgow, and brother, Frank Lester, of Willowshade. She had seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be conducted at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade on Tuesday, April 30, from 2 to 7 p.m., and on Wednesday beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Glasgow Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 748 West Cherry Street, Glasgow, after which funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Summer Shade Cemetery.
Marjorie Ann Carter Bradford King
RAMROD KEY, Fla. – Marjorie Ann Carter Bradford King, 79, died on Saturday, April 20, 2013.
Margie was the daughter of the late Sallie Grace Evans Carter Robertson and Audie Percell Carter, of Tompkinsville. Her late husband was Louis C. Bradford. She lived in Chattanooga, Tenn. for more than 30 years before retiring and moving to the Florida Keys.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Lee King, of Ramrod Key, Fla.; her four children, Linda Bradford Fox, Teresa Bradford Kuhne, Johnny Louis Bradford, and Sandra Bradford Lee, all of Chattanooga, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She loved and lived life to the fullest and will be missed by all her loved ones and many friends.
A graveside memorial service was held in Chattanooga at Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 26, with all her family in attendance.
