GLASGOW — Marcus Akin

EDMONTON — Marcus J. Akin, 91, of Edmonton, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at his home.

Born in Jamestown, N.Y., he was the son of the late Guy Akin and Velma Green Akin.

He was a retired postal worker and U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol Raymond, of Edmonton, and Barbara Brown, of Florida; one sister, Martha Brown, of New York; and four grandchildren, Carrie Long, Lyla Raymond, Jon Taylor and David Brown.

Cremation was chosen and no services are scheduled at this time. Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton is in charge of arrangements.

   

Judy Whobrey Basil

EDMONTON – Judy Whobrey Basil, 64, of Edmonton, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at her home.  

She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Lucille Layman Whobrey.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Basil.   

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Big Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.   

Hubert L. Bryant

GLASGOW – Hubert L. Bryant, 81, of Glasgow, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at University of Louisville Hospital.

Born in Veto, Alabama, he was a power trucker at Caterpillar Tractor, and a member of East Main Street Church of Christ. He loved playing bluegrass music and played various instruments, which he taught to his family. Hubert enjoyed tinkering, but mostly, he loved playing with his great-grandkids.

He was preceded in death by a son, Randall D. Bryant and his wife Roxie, and five siblings.

Hubert is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Martha Claudean (Green) Bryant; children, Kenneth L. Bryant (Marcia) and Brenda Karen Graber (Don); a brother, James Maxie Bryant; four grandchildren, Chad (Shelley), Heather (Michael), Carissa (Calvin) and Katie; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to his wife, Claudean, to be used in a way to honor Hubert’s life, c/o of Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY 40205.

   

Clay Butler

GLASGOW – Clay Butler, 83, of Glasgow, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Glasgow Health & Rehabilitation in Glasgow.

He was the son of the late Glen Butler and the late Gertrude Taylor Butler.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Brother Jack Srygler and Brother Randall Kessinger officiating. Interment will be at Butler Family Cemetery, Munfordville.
