GLASGOW — Gary Mitchell Buck

KANAKEE, Ill. – Gary Mitchell Buck, 61, of Kanakee, Ill., formerly of Tompkinsville, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, in Illinois.

Gary was born in Tompkinsville, on Feb. 19, 1952, a son of the late Alma (Allen) and Kenneth Buck.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday after 5 p.m. and Friday 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Yokley Cemetery.

Robert Logsdon DeVore

PLAINFIELD, Ill. – Robert Logsdon DeVore, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013.

A resident of Plainfield, Ill., he died of complications from pneumonia at the age of 75. Mr. DeVore was a country music entertainer known as Bobby Dee, who performed on many popular country music television and radio shows in the 1960s-1980s. He was well-loved on the Grand Ole Opry stage and many live music venues in Nashville,Tenn., California, and his home state of Kentucky. Also a recording artist, he released several records during his career including his popular renditions of “Pick Me Up on Your Way Down” and “They'll Never Take Her Love from Me.”

Born in Glasgow, on Aug. 8, 1938, Mr. DeVore was the youngest of 10 children. He left Kentucky farm life behind at a young age to join the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1959. It was during his military service that the inspiration came for his career as a musician. While at Fort Meade, Md., he entered the base's talent contest, singing country music and playing guitar. He won the local contest and advanced to the national-level Army talent competition, which he also won. Following his discharge, he headed to Nashville, Tenn., where he signed his first recording contract. He performed alongside country music's greatest stars of the era and was know for both his musical talent and on-stage humor. During his career, he also performed in numerous charity benefit shows. When not touring, he made his home in Kentucky until retiring to New Albany, Ind. Following the death of his wife of 42 years, Jean Hishmeh DeVore, Mr. DeVore moved to Plainfield, Ill., to be near family. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Susie (Logsdon) DeVore and nine siblings.

Mr. DeVore is survived by his daughter, BJ DeVore Marshall, of Lemont, Ill., her husband James H. Marshall III, and grandchildren James, Julia and Jordan Marshall; sons, Bobby DeVore and his wife Teresa, of Columbia, Lonnie DeVore and his wife Connie, of Columbia, and Lionel DeVore and his wife Mary, of Glasgow; along with grandchildren Ashley Overstreet, Shannon Gosnell, Nicole Legg, Nick DeVore, Jonathan DeVore and Kyle DeVore, all Kentucky residents; several great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be offered on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Winn Funeral Home in Horse Cave. The funeral will be conducted at Winn Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m., followed by a gravesite service at Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery with military honors conducted by Fort Knox.


Katherine Harlow

GLASGOW – Katherine Harlow, wife of Rev. Frank Harlow, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at her residence.

Arrangements are incomplete, but will be announced later by Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.


Thomas Wayne ‘Tommy’ Meredith

CUB RUN– Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Meredith, 47, of Cub Run, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.

Tommy is survived by his father, Larry Meredith, of Brownsville, and his mother, Linda Lou Meredith, of Horse Cave.

Tommy’s wish was to be cremated. The family will have a memorial service at a later date. Sego Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.


Janice Ann Moldon

CAVE CITY – Janice Ann Moldon, 73, of Cave City, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.

She was born in Metcalfe County and was a daughter of the late Leslie and Gertrude Harris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Moldon.

Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 until 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
