Netta Mae Thomas Emberton
TOMPKINSVILLE — Netta Mae Thomas Emberton, 79, of Tompkinsville, passed away on her and her late husband, Ancil’s, 61st wedding anniversary, Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at their home.
Netta was born in Tompkinsville on Feb. 24, 1934, a daughter of the late Tessie Mae (Turner) and James Basil Thomas.
On Oct. 28, 1952, in Indianapolis, Ind., she married Ancil Emberton, who precedes her in death.
Netta worked as a clerk at the National Store in Tompkinsville and was also a pre-school teacher's aid for 20 years. She was a member of Mud Lick Church of Christ East.
Netta is survived by two daughters, Mitzi Emberton, of Tompkinsville; Marcia Spear, of Lebanon, Tenn.; one son, Mark Emberton, of Tompkinsville; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Netta is also survived by two sisters, Nina Curtis, of Whitehouse, Tenn., and Nelda Pardue, of Louisville.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Ronald Thomas.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home with Brother Gary Emberton and Brother Bradley Shaw officiating. Visitation is after noon Thursday and 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial is in Bethlehem Cemetery.
BOWLING GREEN — Billy Law, no age given, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
He was the son of the late James Ebb Law and Annie Graves Law and husband to Nancy Jenkins Law.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at Strode Funeral Home in Scottsville with burial to follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
BOWLING GREEN — Thelma Lewis Merideth, 60, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Roy and Ethel House Lewis and the wife of Jesse Merideth, who survives.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Cremation was chosen. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
GLASGOW — Jack Phillips, 82, of Glasgow, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at 12:25 a.m. At Glenview Nursing Home.
He and his wife of 66 years, Jane Phillips, who survives, resided together at the nursing home until his death. They were the former owners of Big Star in Glasgow. They were also members of Glasgow Baptist Church.
They had five children together, one of whom, Richard Phillips, is deceased. Surviving children are Paula Farmer, of Nashville, Kim Phillips, wife Lucy, of North Miami Beach, Fla., Bobby Phillips, wife Beverly, of Nashville, and Mark Phillips, of Glasgow. Also surviving are three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
There were no funeral services. Jack's body was taken to the University of Kentucky for organ donation.
William Philpott Jr.
MUNFORDVILLE — William Philpott Jr., 79, of Munfordville, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 29, 2013, at his daughter's home in Bonnieville.
Born in Logsdon Valley community in Hart County, he was a son of the late William Philpott Sr. and Gertrude Pennington Philpott. He was a farmer, a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Timmy Philpott and Terry Philpott, both of Munfordville.; two daughters, Brenda Hodges of Bonnieville and Robert Wilson of Munfordville; three brothers, James Hester, of Jonesville, Ed Philpott, of Hodgenville, and William Philpott, of Hardyville; three sisters, Medella Dorsey and Jane Thompson, both of Munfordville, and Christine Morrow, of Louisville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby; a daughter, Donna Taylor; two brothers, Charles Philpott and Charlie Grubbs; a sister, Mary Lucas; and a grandchild.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with burial in Little Flock Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
GLASGOW – Carolyn L. Arnold, 69, of Glasgow, died Thursday, October 24, 2013, at her residence.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hopewell Baptist Church in Glasgow. Burial will follow in Barlow Cemetery. Watts & Percell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
TOMPKINSVILLE — Nellie Copas, 89, of Tompkinsville, died Sunday at Monroe County Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. Burial will be in Basil Wilson Cemetery.
BOWLING GREEN — Martha Jean Jones, 67, of Bowling Green, formerly of Glasgow, died, Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013. The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Jackson Grove Baptist Church on Bristow Road in Bowling Green. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is assisting the family.
SLICK ROCK — Michael Wayne Morgan, 60, of Slick Rock, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Morgan Family Cemetery at Slick Rock.
MUNFORDVILLE — Evelyn Irene Reynolds, 83, of Munfordville, died at 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Hart County Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home. Burial will be in Munfordville Municipal Cemetery.
HORSE CAVE — William “Marvin” Sell, 97, Horse Cave, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel in Cave City with burial in Cave City Cemetery.
