GLASGOW — Mary Elizabeth Bennett

HORSE CAVE – Mary Elizabeth Bennett, 69, of Horse Cave, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was a native of Edmonson County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nevil Jones and Helen Sanders Jones.

She is survived by her husband, Blain Bennett, of Horse Cave.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Winn Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

 

Beatrice Elmore Harlow

LOUISVILLE – Beatrice Elmore Harlow, 93, formerly of Barren County, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, in Louisville. She was the daughter of the late William and Lurty Mae Brown Chapman. She was the widow of the late Cyrus H. Harlow.

Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial was in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens.



Carolyn Sue Green Lawrence

OWENSBORO – Carolyn Sue Green Lawrence, 66, of Owensboro, and formerly of Glasgow, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Kindred Healthcare/Hillcrest Nursing Home in Owensboro.

She was a homemaker and a member of Hanging Fork Baptist Church at Finney.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Olia Miller Green, of Glasgow; one brother, Bobby Green and wife Freda, of Smiths Grove; three sisters, Henrietta Green, of Glasgow, Myrtle Taylor and husband Kenneth, of Glasgow and Anna Elizabeth Taylor and husband Wayne, of Glasgow. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Gilbert Green, and a sister, Brenda Ruth Green.

Funeral services will be 11a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Henderson Cemetery at Finney. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Brother John Lawrence ‘JL’ Sturgeon

MOUNT WASHINGTON – Brother John Lawrence “JL” Sturgeon, 84, of Mount Washington, formerly of Hart County, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Green Meadows Healthcare Center in Mount Washington.

He was the son of the late Buck Sturgeon and the late Cleota Highbaugh Sturgeon.

He is survived by his wife, Jenrose Sturgeon.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. ET, Tuesday, Oct. 1, and from 9 to 11 a.m. ET, Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Mount Washington.

Funeral service will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Mount Washington, at 11 a.m. ET, Wednesday, Oct. 2, with Brother Wally Mantooth and Brother Rick Ralston officiating. Interment will be at Pearl Webb Cemetery in Canmer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International or American Cancer Society.

There will be a Masonic service at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Mount Washington.

Brooks Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Susie Carol Walden

TOMPKINSVILLE – Susie Carol Walden, 65, of Tompkinsville, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green.

Carol was born in Monroe County, on June 11, 1948, a daughter of Dorotha (Short) Walden and the late Bertie Ellsworth Walden.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home with Brother Timmy Eaton and Brother Paul Strong officiating.

Visitation is in progress and will continue on Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Skaggs Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library or to TES Backpack Program.

 

Clarence Junior Wilson

LeGRANDE – Clarence Junior Wilson, 72, of LeGrande, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.

He was a Barren County native. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rollin Davis Wilson and Mollie Pearl Bragg Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Mills Wilson, of LeGrande.

Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Winn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Cosby Cemetery.



Roy E. Woodcock

GLASGOW – Roy E. Woodcock, 69, Glasgow, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at his residence.

A native of Barren County, he was the son of the late James and Christine Jessie Woodcock and a member of Columbia Avenue Church of Christ. He was a former truck driver for Big G and Barren River Fertilizer companies and was a co-owner of an auto body repair shop.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Laura Belcher Woodcock; one daughter, Kim Crowe and her husband Brian; one son, Roy Wayne Woodcock and his wife Teresa; three grandsons, Stephen Brian Crowe, Bradley Allen Crowe and wife Lindsay Raines, and Nathan James Woodcock; three sisters, Lois Chapman, Judy Winchester, and Ellen Bertram; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.

HIGHLAND PARK, N.J. – Sarah Elizabeth Schmidt Buckner, 31, died Saturday, Sept.14, 2013, in Highland Park, New Jersey. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. ET, Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Pikeview Baptist Church near Magnolia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
