GLASGOW – Shirlene Allen, 71, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at her residence.
Born in Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Mamie Lou McDaniel Allen. Ms. Allen was of the Methodist faith and a former employee of numerous factories in the Glasgow area before retiring.
Survivors include three daughters, Daythia Allen, of Glasgow, Sheryl Allen and Lisa Allen, both of Griffin, Ga.; a son, CWO Ejnor Allen, of the United States Embassy, Kuwait; a brother, Richard B. Allen, of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Darnell Allen.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Odd Fellow Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ricky Lynn England
COLUMBIA – Ricky Lynn England, 46, of Columbia, formerly of Tompkinsville, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at his home in Columbia.
He was the son of the late Clarence England and Patricia Rich England.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Chrisman, of Columbia.
Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Yokley Cemetery in Monroe County.
Viola Haynes McClard
GLASGOW – Viola Haynes McClard, 79, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at U of L Hospital in Louisville.
Born in Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Wayne and Fannie Beatrice Moore Haynes.
Viola was a homemaker and a care provider for children and the elderly.
She is survived by her husband, Kent McClard; her daughter, Rita June Smith, of Glasgow; her son, Ricky Douglas Huddleston, of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Brittney Nicole (Dean) Lunz, of Edmonton, Kami Denise (Shaun) Williams, of Scottsville, and Mary Jewell Huddleston, of Glasgow; and her great-granddaughter, Rosalee Nicole Lunz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Elbert and Lawton Wayne Haynes.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Caney Fork Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Delsie Gonterman Taylor
CAVE CITY – Delsie D. (Gonterman) Taylor, 100, of Cave City, died on Sept. 22, 2013, at Glasgow Heath and Rehabilitation Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Loyd Taylor.
Funeral services with Randall Kessinger officiating will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at Cherry Springs Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 28, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City. The body will lie in state at the church after 9 a.m. Sunday until time of service.
SUMMER SHADE – Cheyenne Rose Lloyd, 8, of Summer Shade, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, in Glasgow, from a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Summer Shade Cemetery.
SUMMER SHADE – Charles Huston McMurtrey, 87, of Summer Shade, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will be in Summer Shade Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Summer Shade Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of one’s choice.
GLASGOW – Verna Kay Poynter, 58, of Glasgow, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013. The family has chosen cremation. There will be a memorial service Saturday at Coral Hill Church of God.
CAVE CITY – Sheila R. Riddle, 46, of Cave City, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery.
