GLASGOW — Steve Borders

MUNFORDVILLE – Steve Borders, 62, of Munfordville, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at his residence.  

He was the son of the late Jesse Lee Borders and the late Amy Pauline Seymore Borders.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy McFarlan Borders.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Brooks Funeral Home. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Brother Barry Devine officiating.



Nora Frances Button

GLASGOW – Nora Frances Button, 90, Glasgow, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Arrangements are incomplete, but under the direction of Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.



Henry B. Harris Jr.

BEECHVILLE – Henry B. Harris Jr.,  80, of the Beechville community of Metcalfe County, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.  

Junior and his wife Mary Agnes Harris were foster parents to many children in the area for many years. He enjoyed his family and friends and always had a story and a smile. He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church in Beechville.  

He is survived by two sons, Donald R. Harris and wife Vickie, Douglas A. Harris and wife Kay, of Edmonton; five grandchildren, Jordan Harris, Jessica Harris, Allisha, Alley and Hallie Harris; two beautiful great-grand baby girls, Ella and Caycee, all of Edmonton; two sisters, Louella Cassady, of Edmonton and Louise Easter, of Tennessee; and special family friends Kevin and Christy Brooks, of Center, Katelyn Harper, of Edmonton and Nick Pickerall, of Hodgenville, and Lisa and Curtis Boswell, of Edmonton, Tommy and Sherry Morrison, of Edmonton.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Agnes Harris; mother, Elizabeth Pearl Harris; two daughters, Hilda and Carlotta Harris; grandson, Dexter Harris; brother, Joe Harris; and sister, Inez Stircker.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Beatrice Kinslow

GLASGOW – Mary Beatrice Kinslow, 85, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was born in Barren County, the oldest of five children born to James and Zelma Jackson.

Mrs. Kinslow was a homemaker and worked side-by-side with her husband on the farm as well as various public jobs in Glasgow. She was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Barry Kinslow and wife Linda, of Mount Washington, Marty Kinslow and wife Lisa, of Glasgow, and Mike Kinslow, of Glasgow; a daughter-in-law, Sylvia Kinslow, of Glasgow; a brother, Donald Jackson and wife Ruth, of Glasgow; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Kinslow; a son, Steve A. Kinslow; a brother, William Edward Jackson; and two sisters, Alyne Lawrence and Imogene Jackson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 a.m. until time for the service.

Larry W. McCue

GAMALIEL – Larry W. McCue, 66, of Gamaliel, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.

He was born Dec. 20, 1946, in Monroe County, to the late Henry Willie McCue and Chloe Belcher McCue. He was a Vietnam Army veteran, had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Brown Brothers, was a member of H.A.M. Henderson Lodge #515 and a member of Akersville Baptist Church.

He was united in marriage on April 29, 1966, to Gayle Walden McCue. He had served as Monroe County Jail Chaplain for seven years, jail ministry for 15 years and a VA volunteer field representative for four years.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle Walden McCue, of Gamaliel; one son, Bryan McCue, of Louisville; one sister, Sandra Ford, of Gamaliel; two grandchildren, Skyler Gentry and husband Robbie, Jared McCue; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Zoie Gentry; two nieces, Nikki Davis, Christy McClendon; one nephew, Jason Ford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Hurd.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel with burial to follow in Neal Cemetery at Flippin.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. on Thursday until time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Gamaliel Volunteer Fire Department.



Jack Woodie Thompson

GLASGOW – Jack Woodie Thompson, 71, of Glasgow, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

He was the son of the late Ernest Thompson and Elnoa Harper Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Shaohui Song.

The family has chosen cremation, there is no services scheduled at this time. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Nanetta Faye ‘Nan’ Wright

GLASGOW – Nanetta Faye “Nan” Wright, 57, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Jewell and Bernell Janes England. Nan was a homemaker and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and singing. She attended Glasgow Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by her husband, Tony; one son, Christopher Anthony Wright and wife Melanie, of Smiths Grove; one daughter, Julie Wright Jolly and husband Chad, of Cave City; two grandchildren, Olivia Cadence Jolly and Porter Willis Jolly; one brother, Mike England, of Glasgow; and three sisters, Margaret Allen of Glasgow, Sue Loy of Clarksville, Ind., and Trish Krog, of Memphis, Tenn.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday.

EDMONTON – Dana Kay Fields Brown, 61, of Edmonton, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at her home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in White Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



SHEPHERDSVILLE – Mrs. Brenda J. Meredith, 65, of Shepherdsville, died Monday, April 29, 2013. Funeral service will be conducted at noon on Thursday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Brookland Cemetery.
