GLASGOW — Shirley Bryant

HORSE CAVE — Shirley Coffey Bryant, 68 of Horse Cave, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, at her home.

She was born in Taylor County and loved flowers, playing bingo and enjoyed the company of her friends and family. She retired from Dart Container in 2008.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Coffey and Helen McKinney Coffey; one granddaughter, Crystal Trowbridge; one sister, Brenda Robertson; two brothers, Leo Coffey and Lincoln Coffey; three infant brothers and three infant sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Charles Bryant, of Horse Cave; daughter Jan Johnson and husband Mickey, of Horse Cave; three sons, Dewayne Bryant and wife Sherri, of Greensburg, Les Bryant and wife Brandi, of Cave City, Dennis (Buck) Jaggers, of Greensburg; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, William (Fats) Coffey and wife Correll, of Greensburg, Jay Coffey and wife, Lorene, of Greensburg, Roger Coffey, of Glasgow; sister, Genevieve Nunn, of Glagsow, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



Rossie Carver

FOUNTAIN RUN — Rossie Carver, 83, of Fountain Run, died Sunday at his home. His arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Tessa Casteel

GLASGOW — Tessa Ellen Almagrace Casteel, 14, of Glasgow, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital after a short illness.

She was born in Oldham County, Jan. 16, 1999. Tessa was an eighth grade student at Barren County Middle School and attended Poplar Log Church of Christ. She loved going to her Ag class and riding horses.  

 She is survived by her parents, Randy and Laura Napier Casteel; a sister, Maggie Casteel; a brother, John Robert Casteel, both at home; and her paternal grandfather, Enimuce Casteel, of Glasgow. She is also survived and loved by several aunts, uncles and cousins of the Casteel and Napier families. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Audrey Casteel, and her maternal grandparents, Billy John and Phyllis Napier.

A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to: Tessa Casteel Benefit Fund in care of Edmonton State Bank.

Paul Edwards

HORSE CAVE — Paul Houston Edwards, 80, of Horse Cave, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at Hart County Health Care Center in Horse Cave.

He was the son of the late Richard Edwards and the late Willie B Maxey Edwards

He was preceded in death by two wives, Mable Louise Reed Edwards (1975) and Bessie Hall Edwards (2006).  

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, at Brooks Funeral Home with Rev. Carl “Dollie” Reed and Rev. Standford Dixon officiating. Interment will be at Edwards Family Cemetery, Horse Cave. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home until time for service.



Robert Pennington

HORSE CAVE — On Saturday, March 23, 2013, Robert Pennington, 81, was called home by his loving Master and Saviour and joined his beloved wife Sarah, his son Gary, his great-granddaughter Haley Minor, his parents Jake and Lizzie Pennington, his sisters Jesse Dennis, Gertrude Mathis and Yuvenna Pennington, his brothers Tom, Crit Allen and Wendell Pennington.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He spent his life providing for his family as a mechanic and enjoyed his time at Myrtle Beach with his family and friends. At the age of 28, he was saved and became a member of Hore Cave Baptist Church, where he recently returned.

The date of Robert’s death is three months from his wife Sarah’s passing on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, 20 years from his son Gary’s passing on March 18, 1993 and 18 years from his mother Lizzie’s passing on March 22, 1995.

Survivors include his five remaining children, Ronnie Gene Pennington, Connie Gayle Robertson and her husband, Darnell, Tammy Jane Felitsky, all of Horse Cave, Timothy Wayne Pennington and hie wife, Margaret, of Shepherdsville, and Tonya Sue Pedigo and her husband, Jimmy, of Glasgow; his 13 grandchildren, Shannon Jo Minor, Robert (Bobby) Vasquez, Kristy Lea Felitsky, Sarah Beth Vasquez, Shelly Ann Felitsky, Jay McMahan and his wife, Felicia, Bekka Brown and her husband, Tyler, Timmy Pennington Jr., Shay Lynn, Lacey, Bethany Brooke, Cheyenne and Courtney Pedigo; and honorary grandson, A.J. Shackleford; his eight remaining great-grandchildren, Kaley Minor, Bailey Vasquez, Chesney Bethel, Alivia Allen, Giovanni Vasquez, Jakob Brown, Hudson McMahan and Camdyn Waggoner; his beloved brother, Jackie Pennington, of Horse Cave, along with a host of his much loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at Horse Cave Baptist Church, 2 p.m., Monday, March 25, with burial to follow at Whickerville Cemetery under the directon of Winn Funeral Home. Visitation is in progress at the church until time of service.



Hudson Richardson

LOUISVILLE — Hudson Richardson, 90, died Friday March 22, 2013, at Parkway Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Louisville.

He was a native of Hart County and a retired motel, restaurant and service station owner. He and his late wife June owned and operated the Wigwam No. 2 at 218 and 31E for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sim L. Richardson and Vada Phillips Richardson; his wife June Richardson; daughter, Judy Richardson Myers; and his son, Mark Richardson

He is survived by three grandsons, Josh Myers, of Lexington, Joe Myers, of San Antonio, Texas, and Jeremy Myers of Pennsylvania; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Myers, Adison Myers and Stella Myers; and his sister, Janie Whisman, of Lexington.

Graveside funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday March 28, at Houk Cemetery under direction of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Visitation will begin prior to the service at the gravesite.



Jackie Stasel

GLASGOW — Jackie Stasel, 51, a resident of NHC of Glasgow, formerly of Bonnieville, died Sunday morning, March 24, 2013, at NHC.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Leslie and Geraldine Reynolds Nunn.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with Brother Donnie Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Memory Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.



Shirley Wood

SUMMER SHADE — Shirley Dianne Smith Wood, 65, of Summer Shade, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at her home. She was a daughter of the late Willie A. and Flo Martin Smith.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 25, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Phil Lowry officiating. Burial will follow in Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
