GOLCONDA, Ill. — Dawson W. Davis, 75, of rural Golconda, Ill., passed away June 21, 2012, at Hardin County Hospital in Rosiclare, IL.
He was born August 25, 1936, in Rising Sun, Ind., to William Forest Davis and Julia Caroline Waller and grew up in the Rising Sun and Patriot area. He was the grandson of William Jefferson Davis and Cora Belle Neal, formerly of Barren County.
Dawson was a fun-loving individual who loved his family and friends. He enjoyed sports, gardening, bird watching and traveling. He was a member of Antioch Church in Rosebud, Ill.
Dawson is survived by his wife, Joan Nell (Nellie) Davis; three sons, Terry Davis, Timmy Davis, Tony Davis and wife Rose; daughter Julie Kappes and husband Joe; 13 grandchildren, including Kimberly Gold, of Glasgow.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Burnham; two brothers, Leroy Davis and Dale Davis; four sisters, Ethel Cotton, Anna Payne, Mary Griffen and Juanita Thomas.
Funeral services were Sunday, June 24, at Antioch Church in Rosebud, Ill., and burial followed at Sulphur Springs Cemetery with Brother Kevin Richardson conducting the service.
Jay Tee Fults
GAMALIEL — Jay Tee Fults, age 86, of Gamaliel, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.
He was born December 31, 1925, in Monroe County, Ky., to the late Tom Fults and Lula Ford Fults. He was a retired clerk for S.D. Harlin Co., a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Gamaliel Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting and wine making.
He is survived by a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 29, at 2 p.m. at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel with burial to follow in Gamaliel Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at graveside by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. on Thursday at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel.
