GLASGOW — Helen Louise Forsyth

GLASGOW – Helen Louise Forsyth, 73, of Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Glasgow Health and Rehab Center.

The Barren County native was born May 9, 1940, the daughter of the late Wynema Jump and the late Edwin Jump. She was a dedicated worker of Barren County Health Care Center and volunteered at other centers during retirement. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

She is survived by a sister, Willa Licata, of Mississippi; a brother, Tom (Pat) Jump, of Glasgow; beloved nieces and nephews; cherished friend/caregiver, Brenda Wright; cherished friend, Shirley Davidson; and many more.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Mapes, and a nephew, Stephen Licata.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 20, at 11 a.m., at McMurtrey Funeral Home, followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., with Reverend Dennis Hibbard officiating. Burial will follow in Union #2 Cemetery.

Careva Wyatt Galloway

GLASGOW – Careva Wyatt Galloway, 94, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.

She was born at Austin, a daughter of the late Reuben and Maude Rigney Wyatt. Mrs. Galloway was a homemaker and a former employee at Barren River State Park. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Scott Galloway; three sisters, Myrtle Agers, Lillie Ida Steenbergen and Addie Mae Steenbergen; and four brothers, Elmer, James R., Fred and Arvel Wyatt.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Walter Richard Groce

TOMPKINSVILLE – Walter Richard Groce, 68, of Tompkinsville, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at his home in Tompkinsville.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Smith Groce, of Tompkinsville.

He was the son of the late Walter H. Groce and Ruby Holman Groce.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at Norris New Funeral Home in Burkesville. Masonic services will be conducted Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Norris New Funeral Home in Burkesville with burial in Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Cumberland County.

Memorials are suggested to Chestnut Grove Cemetery.



Willard ‘Harold’ Jackson

TEMPLE HILL – Willard “Harold” Jackson, 65, of Temple Hill, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Barren County, the son of the late Willard Jackson and Queensuce “Lou Q” Jackson, of Glasgow, who survives.

Harold was a member of  Poplar Springs Baptist Church, a life-long farmer and an employee of Federal Mogul in Glasgow.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Susan Berryman Jackson; one son, Wade Jackson and wife Lindsay; one daughter, Hannah Kingrey and husband Matt; four grandchildren, Kylee, Ty and Heidi Jackson and Zech Kingrey; and a sister, Connie Steele, all of Glasgow.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until time for the service.

Eddie Preston

SCOTTSVILLE – Eddie Preston, 56, of Scottsville, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at The Medical Center in Scottsville.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jo Preston.

Survivors include his father, Robert Wilkes, of Columbia, Tenn.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Strode Funeral Home on Lois Moore Drive in Scottsville with Reverend Melanie Samuels-Black and Reverend James Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery in Scottsville.

Visitations will begin after 3 p.m. Friday at Strode Funeral Home, Scottsville.

Watts & Percell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

GLASGOW – Judy Pedigo Franklin, 84, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens.



MONROE – Mary Christine Meadows, 90, of the Monroe Community, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Hart County Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville.



MUNFORDVILLE – Charles “Chuck” Ray Meserole, 59, of Munfordville, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cherry Springs Cemetery at Cub Run. The family request that memorial donations be given to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.



ELIZABETHTOWN – Mrs. Corine Short, 78, Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in Cave City Cemetery.
