Carolyn Ann Hawks
BOWLING GREEN – Carolyn Ann Hawks, 60, of Bowling Green, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Willis and Willodean Cowles Watt, and wife of Floyd Hawks, who survives.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Wingfield Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home
John A. ‘Big John’ Poynter
PARK CITY – John A. “Big John” Poynter, 47, of Park City, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, in Nashville, Tenn.
He was born in Barren County to the late Billy Thomas Poynter and Martha Smith Poynter and was the husband of Peggy Minyard Poynter. He was a former Cave City and Park City Police Officer, Barren County Deputy Sheriff and Paramedic for Barren-Metcalfe EMS and a member of Mount Zion United Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Minyard Poynter, of Park City; one daughter, Reanna Nicole Poynter of Park City; mother, Martha Smith Poynter, of Cave City; three brothers, Donnie Poynter, of Cave City, Ricky Poynter (Debbie), of Horse Cave and Joe Poynter, of Hardyville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Poynter.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel. The funeral service will be Friday, May 17, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Tomar Lyric Stephens
SCOTTSVILLE – Tomar Lyric Stephens, died Sunday May 12, 2013, at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Phillips Stephens.
He was the son of the late Tom Stephens and Linda Holmes, who survives.
Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Thursday at Strode Funeral Home, Scottsville Chapel.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Ricky Lynn Turner
GLASGOW – Ricky Lynn Turner, 54, of Glasgow, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
Born in Glasgow, he was the son of Bobby G. Turner, of Louisville, and the late Virginia Lois Harper Whitley and her husband Clifton. Mr. Turner was the owner and operator of Jones Alignment and veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Donna Yuda Turner; a daughter, Angela Thompson; two grandchildren, Hunter and Caraline Thompson; a sister, Sheila Dillard and husband Carl, all of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Samuel “Fooman” Thompson.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
Robert Lee Young
EDMONTON – Robert Lee Young, 66, of Edmonton, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was the son of the late Hubert and Gracie Davis Young.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Young, of Sulphur Well.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
GLASGOW – Eunice Anderson, 86, of Glasgow, formerly of Burkesville, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at her home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Burkesville. Burial will be in Burkesville Cemetery.
GLASGOW – Billy Joe Barbour, 48, of Glasgow, formerly of Hart County, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at his residence in Glasgow. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Little Blue Springs Baptist Church. Interment will be at Bearwallow Cemetery, Horse Cave.
LAKE BALBOA, Calif. – Lois Jean Matthews Decker, died Nov. 13, 2012, in her son’s home in California. A celebration of her life will be conducted Saturday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, in Louisville, with the memorial service beginning at 10:45 a.m. A graveside service will be at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery in Glasgow at approximately 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to AIM of Kentuckiana Inc. or a charity of one’s choice.
MUNFORDVILLE – Paul Meredith, 78, of Munfordville, died Sunday May 12, 2013, at his home. Funeral services for will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home. Burial will be in Munfordville Municipal Cemetery.
