Derek Dwayne Caffee
EDMONTON – Derek Dwayne Caffee, 32, of Edmonton, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in Edmonton, of an automobile accident.
He was employed by Akebono in Glasgow.
He is survived by his father, Lonnie (Dana) Caffee, of Edmonton; mother, Shirley (Yancey) Mutter, of Glasgow; daughter, Emily Caffee, of Hodgenville; sister, Angie (Tim) Gibson, of Edmonton; brother Greg (Kathy) Hill, of Coatsville, Ind.; two nieces, Inda and Ida Riness, of Edmonton; girlfriend, Crystal Freeman, of Edmonton; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Nadine Caffee, and Riley and Mae Gibson; and cousin, Jason Gibson.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton, with burial in the Bragg-Mosby Cemetery in Edmonton. Visitation will be Saturday from 3 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jo Ann Montgomery
GLASGOW – Jo Ann Montgomery, 48, of Glasgow, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
Born in Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Joe W. Montgomery Sr. and Shirley Payne Montgomery, of Glasgow, who survives. Jo Ann had worked in the family business, Palmore Studio, and was a member of Glenview Christian Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Sandie Claywell (Marvin), of Glasgow, and Rebecca Christian (Jim), of Bowling Green; three brothers, Marty Wooten, of Glasgow, Joe W. Montgomery Jr. (Brenda), of Austin, and Ewing Lee Montgomery, of Somerset. Several nieces and nephews also survive, including Mollie Claywell.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Virginia Lee Tubbs
GLASGOW – Virginia Lee Tubbs, 78, of Glasgow, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
A daughter of the late Zachariah and Lena Herndon Duvall, she was a retired housekeeper. She was a member of the Friendship Club and a long-time member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she was also a Sunday School teacher and member of the Missionary Society and the choir.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Bybee; one son, Silves Earl Mitchell (Janet); four grandchildren, Micah Tisdale, James Tisdale, Tabitha Tisdale, and André Mitchell; one sister, Nora Frances Button; special friends, Billy Rice and Libby West; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, along with her extended Tubbs Family and Hopewell Church Family.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Hopewell Baptist Church, with burial in Lou Green Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
Leamon O. Turley
CUB RUN – Leamon O. Turley, 81, of Cub Run, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in Brownsville.
He was owner of The Gas Barn, farmer, a member of Robinson Masonic Lodge and Stockholm United Baptist Church. He was also a Korean Air Force veteran.
The Edmonton County native was the son of the late Ernest and Nellie Crain Turley. He was the husband of the late Marjorie Maxine Hill Turley.
He is survived by one daughter, Marya L. Turley, of Alvaton; one son, Donnie Turley (Jennifer), of Chalybeate; one brother, Ernest “Boots” Turley, of Louisville; sister-in-law, Doris Hill, of Fort Worth, Texas; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel, with Masonic service held by the Cub Run Masonic Lodge #910 F&AM, 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville Chapel, with Brother Jerry Patton officiating. Burial will be in Cherry Springs Church Cemetery.
CAVE CITY – Luther Wood, 83, Cave City, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the Medical Center, Bowling Green.
The Barren County native was the son of the late Virgil and Hattie Oller Wood. He was a farmer and veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Poynter Wood, Cave City; three sons, Luther Poynter, Douglas Wood and Ricky Wood, all of Cave City; three daughters, Anita Poynter, Munfordville, Samantha Wood, Cave City, Joyce Thomas (Joseph), Gatlinburg; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services, with Gerald Gossett officiating, will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 23, at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 9:30 a.m. Sunday until time of service.
BOWLING GREEN – Charles David Brower, 75, of Bowling Green, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, in Bowling Green. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery #2.
GLASGOW – Janice Carol Saltsman Pierce, 69, Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, Dec.19, 2012, at home, after a short illness. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Neal’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
MOUNT HERMON – Phillip Trivett, 87, of the Mount Hermon community, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Monroe Health and Rehab Center in Tompkinsville. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Fountain Run Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Bethlehem Cemetery Fund.
