GLASGOW — Leslie Earl Gibbons, 87, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at his home.
Born in Glasgow, he was the son of the late Hershel and Sarah Elizabeth Sheffield Gibbons. Mr. Gibbons was self-employed and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Gary Gibbons and wife Tammy, of Glasgow; his daughter, Diane McGuire and husband Preston, of Glasgow; six grandchildren, Michele Combs (Jarred), Chastity Hayes (Justin), Ashley McGuire, Kasandra George (Nathan), Dana Clark (Timmy), and Alex Pedigo (Lindy); three great-grandchildren, Caleb Hayes, Liam Pedigo and Annsley Clark; two brothers, Walter and Doug Gibbons, of Glasgow; a sister, Ruby Smith, of Cave City and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Johnson Gibbons, three brothers, Lewis, Arthur and Waldo Gibbons and three sisters, Alice Boles, Effie Chase and Alma Chase.
At the request of Mr. Gibbons, there will be no visitation and his graveside service in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery will be private.
