GLASGOW — Ray Glendon Jones

BOWLING GREEN – Ray Glendon Jones, of Bowling Green, entered into rest Tuesday, June 25, 2013, with those he loved by his side.

A native of Barren County, he was the son of the late William Jefferson and Bertha Wheeler Jones. He was preceded in death by his infant son, David Jones, and sister, Barbara Pickett.

Ray is survived by his wife, Dean Jones; son, Gregory Jones (Tammy) of Alvaton; daughter, Lisa Houchin (Donald) of Bowling Green; five grandchildren, Dr. Ali Smith, Jon-Spencer Smith and Collin Smith, Brittany Jones White (Kyle) and Clint Jones; great-granddaughter, Kinsley Nicole White; brother, Douglas Jones (Joyce) of Glasgow; sister, Ramona Maggard of Glasgow; also survived by several nieces and nephews, close friend, David Bernado, and his two furry friends, Cleo and Bess.

Ray was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church and was the owner of Ray G. Jones Builders. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a wonderful husband, father and “poppy.” Ray was a master carpenter and was a talented singer.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is in progress and will continue Thursday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the BGWC Humane Society at 1924 Louisville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42101.

Arlene G. Lapham

GLASGOW – Arlene G. Lapham, 79, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at her home in Glasgow.

Mrs. Lapham was formerly of Lincoln Park, N.J., and had been a Glasgow resident since 1990. She was born July 10, 1933, in Potsdam, N.Y., a daughter of the late Royal and Mildred Jenkins Grow. Her husband was the late Charles J. Lapham.

She was a retired school teacher and recently had taught the G.E.D. program at the Barren County Detention Center. She attended Glasgow Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Lapham is survived by four sons, Peter (Judy) Lapham, Tom Lapham (Janelle) and Jon Lapham, all of Glasgow, and Ben Lapham (Joy Kaczmarek) of New York; a daughter, Sue (Doug) Zaher of New York; a sister, Bette (Pete) Burns of Virgina; and four grandchildren, Garrett, Jerry, Andrew and Kaitlyn.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Glasgow Cumberland Presbyterian Church. There will be no visitation. The family chose cremation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Barren County Detention Center, Matt Mutter G.E.D. Program, 201 Samson St., Glasgow, KY 42141.

Arrangements are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
