Ava Darlene Bush
GLASGOW – Ava Darlene Bush, 54, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013.
She was the daughter of the late Harold Bush and Alice Lacefield.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Julia Bush, and her loving grandsons, Bryson Lee Bryant and Michael Blake Bryant.
The family has chosen cremation. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Ricky Cardwell Sr.
GLASGOW – Ricky Cardwell Sr., 57, of Glasgow, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
He was the son of James Cardwell and the late Vernie Jones Cardwell.
Besides his father, he is survived by three children, Melissa Cardwell, Barbara Helson and Ricky Cardwell Jr.; eight grandchildren, Stephen Helson Jr., Kayla Helson, Alex Helson, Haley Helson, Aaliyah Cardwell, Sarah Eatmon, Summer Eatmon and Robin Coats; two brothers, Marty Cardwell and Donald Cardwell; five sisters, Norma Green, Connie Guess, Patricia Jones, Marie Phelps and Brenda Cardwell.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tasha Eatmon; and two brothers, Gendale Cardwell and Gary Cardwell.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Forest Baptist Church with burial in Archie Newman Cemetery in Richardsville. Visitation began after 1 p.m. Monday at Lighthouse Church in Horse Cave, and will continue after 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Forest Baptist Church until time for services. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Betty Jane Decker
MUNFORDVILLE – Betty Jane Decker, 57, of Munfordville, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at her home.
Ms. Decker was born in Hardin County and was a housewife.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with burial in Little Flock Cemetery. Visitation is in progress and will continue after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Virginia Frances Akers Downing
GLASGOW – Virginia Frances Akers Downing, 91, of Glasgow, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
Her arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
Mildred Jean Livesay Ferkler
BOWLING GREEN – Mildred Jean Livesay Ferkler, 77, of Bowling Green, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013, at her residence at 8:32 p.m.
Mildred was born in Glasgow on April 18, 1936, and was preceded in death by her late husband of 40 years, Richard Livesay, and her parents, Guy and Katherine Matthews Everett.
Mildred was a founding member of Living Hope Baptist Church, taught Sunday School for many years and was the first treasurer of Living Hope, retired manager and salesman of Lee Brick and Block. Also a member of Park City Chapter #128 O.E.S., Kentucky Colonel and avid Western Kentucky Hilltopper Fan.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Ferkler; two daughters, Susan Livesay and Donna Livesay Kanaly (Tim), Bowling Green; three stepdaughters, Lisa L. Morgan, Kelley M. Ricker and Debbra A. Smith, of High Point, N.C.; one sister, Rebecca Humphrey, of Bowling Green; two grandsons, Nick and Ryan Kanaly, of Bowling Green; four step-grandchildren, Chyenne Ricker, Skyler Ricker, Shatwntay Smith and Jeremy Morgan, also survive.
Funeral service will be Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Living Hope Baptist Church, with visitation Wednesday, June 26, 2013, 4 until 8 p.m. at J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel and Thursday 9 a.m. until service time at Living Hope Baptist Church. Burial will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
EDMONTON – Kim Jolly, 43, of Edmonton passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital, after a long, brave battle with cancer.
She was born on July 20, 1969, to Phil and Beverly Lowry, of Edmonton, who survive. She was a member of House of Prayer Church where she was actively involved with the youth program as a Sunday School teacher and played the organ. She loved her church and her heritage and inspired so many during her illness. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Wes Jolly, of Edmonton; two daughters, Jerrica Jolly and Kiley Jolly, both at home; a brother, Kevin Lowry, of Edmonton; maternal grandmother, Pauline Elmore, of Edmonton; an aunt, Rita Smith and husband Wayne, of Winnsboro, La.; father and mother-in-law, Joe and Kay Jolly, of Center; grandmother-in-law, Betty Tucker, of Sulphur Well; brother and sister-in-law Richie and Nikki Jolly, of Center; two nieces, Mayci and Bree Jolly and a nephew, Dathan Jolly; and several cousins and her wonderful church family at House of Prayer.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Rev. Robert C. Elmore and paternal grandparents, Hansford and Thelma Lowry, of Corbin.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 26, at 1 p.m. at House of Prayer Church in Edmonton, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church beginning on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and after 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the House of Prayer Church cemetery fund.
Laverne Britt Lockhart
BOWLING GREEN – Laverne Britt Lockhart, 97, of Bowling Green, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Hopkins Nursing Facility.
She was the daughter of the late Thurman and Alma Landrum Britt, and wife of the late Rodney T. Lockhart.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
Marie F. Murphy
MUNFORDVILLE – Marie F. Murphy, 75, of Munfordville, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at her residence in Munfordville.
She was the daughter of the late Elzy Allen and Marie Logsdon Allen and the wife of the late Stanley Murphy.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Brother Rick Catron officiating. Interment will be in Murphy Family Cemetery, Munfordville.
Dr. Robert Panchyshyn
BOWLING GREEN – Dr. Robert Panchyshyn, 85, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Greenwood Nursing & Rehab.
He was the son of the late John and Mary Dymianek Panchyshyn, and husband of Carolyn Baseheart Panchyshyn.
Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with burial in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.
William Howard ‘Billy’ Rice
GLASGOW – William Howard “Billy” Rice, 75, of Glasgow, formerly of Horse Cave, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.
Mr. Rice was a farmer and a member of Pleasant Oak Ridge Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Harry Rice and the late Alberta Brown Rice.
He is survived by one daughter, Gladys Sublett and husband Calvin, of Glasgow; two sons, Dwight Turner and wife Sherry, of Indianapolis, Ind., and William Rice and wife Pam, of Elizabethtown; four sisters, Mayme Faulkner, and Hattie Rice, both of Munfordville, Faye Robinson and husband Aurthur, of Glasgow, and Doris Jean Buckner and husband Larry, Aurora, Ill.; three brothers, Bobby Rice, of Glasgow, Lloyd Rice, and Charles Rice, both of Campbellsville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William Howard Rice Jr.; two brothers, Junior Rice and Harry Leon Rice; and one sister, Geneva Stewart.
Visitation is in progress at Brooks Funeral Home and will continue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Woodsonville Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at Woodsonville Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 with Rev. Ray Stewart and Dr. Michael Rice officiating. Interment will be at Horse Cave Cemetery, Horse Cave.
Jack L. Robinson
PARK CITY – Jack L. Robinson, 81, of Park City, passed away Saturday June 22, 2013, at his home.
He was a native of Indiana and had served as a Cpl. in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was a retired truck driver and a vocational instructor for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed playing golf and was an avid sports enthusiast. Jack also loved his family very much.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Janette Lee in 1975 and his second wife, Lillian Riordan Robinson, in 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mildred Collins Robinson; a brother, Gaylord Heuston; a sister, Beverly Heuston; and by a stepson, Larry Riordan.
He is survived by his son, Gary L. Robinson and his wife Pam, of Clarksville Ind.; one grandson, Dustin Robinson, also of Clarksville Ind.; three stepsons, Gary Riordan, of Park City, Ronnie Riordan, of Bowling Green, and Sammie Riordan, of Cave City; two step-grandchildren, Jonathan Riordan and Ashley Riordan Costello; two brothers, Phillip Heuston and Max Heuston, both of Indiana; a sister-in-law, Leona Edwards, of Hardyville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Houk Cemetery.
Visitation at Winn Funeral Home is in progress and will continue after 9 a.m. until funeral time on Tuesday.
Carlos Delbert Turner
BOWLING GREEN – Carlos Delbert Turner, 74, of Bowling Green, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at his residence.
He was the son of the late Herschel C. and Lida Mae Gilmer Turner.

Jackie Donavon West
CUB RUN – Jackie Donavon West, 74, of Cub Run, died Monday morning, June 24, 2013, at his home.
Jackie was born in Bee, Ky. in Edmonson County.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Hawkins West.
Funeral services for Jackie Donavon West will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with Brother Jason Brooks officiating, with burial in Cherry Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Sego Funeral Home until time for services.
Samuel Depp York
GLASGOW – Samuel Depp York, 66, Glasgow, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.
A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Jennie Elizabeth Depp York and Dr. Paul S. York Sr.
A graduate of Glasgow High School and Murray State University, he was retired from farm management and Houchens Industries. He was a member and deacon of First Christian Church, of Glasgow, where he was also a devoted participant in the Tuesday Bible Study. He was a devoted grandfather and a neighbor to anyone in need.
Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Boyd and her husband Justin, of Glasgow; two grandsons, Justin Posey and Nathan Boyd; one brother, Dr. Paul S. York Jr. and his wife Margaret, of Glasgow; two sisters, Martha Richardson and her husband Buist, of Nashville and Mary York Nunn and her husband Winston, of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Jean “Sandy” Galloway York.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First Christian Church, Hospice of Southern Kentucky or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
