GLASGOW — Arnold Devore

UPTON – Arnold Devore, 80, of Upton, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Saint Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown, Ind.

He was a retired construction worker and a Korean War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Miller Devore; two sons, Terry Reeves and wife Alicia, of Sonora, and Tim Reeves and wife Sandra, of Hagerstown, Md.; one sister, Janice Bloomer, of Bonnieville; and two grandchildren, Joshua Reeves and Haley Reeves.

Mr. Devore's wishes were to be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville.

Mary Lois Lyons

GLASGOW – Mary Lois Lyons, 91, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Barren County Health Care facility.

She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Roy L. and Lela Wright Jordan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roger H. Lyons. Mary Lois was a bookkeeper and a former employee of Western Ky. Gas Company and the Glasgow Daily Times. She was a lifelong member of Glasgow Baptist Church.

She is survived by her three children, James L. Lyons and wife Jolene, of Bowling Green, Mary Ann Girth and husband Joe, of Louisville, and Jerry H. Lyons and wife Karen, of Glasgow; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Matt, Jeff, Ashley and Lucy; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time for the service.

Elvas Lee Oakes

EDMONTON – Elvas Lee Oakes, 88, of Edmonton, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.  

He was the son of the late James Payton and Dellie Smith Oakes. He was a farmer, World War II Army veteran and husband of Ruth Stephens Oakes, having been married for 65 years.  

Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Nelda Oakes and Jerry Ray Oakes, both of Edmonton; one brother, Wheeler Oakes, of Knob Lick; and one sister, Lizzie Stephens, of Edmonton.  

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters, Vernon Oakes, Ollie Gray, Ovelia Gray, Orlena Nance and Iris Polson.  

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.   

 

Steven A. Spry

AUSTIN – Steven A. Spry, 61, of Austin Tracy, died  Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

The Fort Wayne, Ind., native was a son of the late Donald Wayne Spry and Marilyn Joyce Miehls Andrew.

He is survived by his wife, Regina Arleen Scott Spry, of Austin Tracy.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Goad Funeral Home with Brother Danny Patrick and Brother Keith Patrick officiating and burial in Mount Union General Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Friday at Goad Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Society. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
