Johnnie Michael McElroy
GLASGOW – Johnnie Michael McElroy, 54, of Glasgow, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, in Green County, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Born in Taylor County, he was the son of the late Henry Leo McElroy and Annie Agnes Shively McElroy, of Finley, who survives.
Mr. McElroy was a member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church and owner and operator of Little Pony Express Trucking in Glasgow.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Bobbie Teresa McElroy, of Glasgow; two sons, Michael Brian Spurling and wife Tammie and Jonathan Leo McElroy, both of Campbellsville; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann McElroy, of Finley; a stepdaughter, Melissa Renee Ross, of Merry Oaks; eight grandchildren, Isabelle Spurling, Sophia Spurling, Gabby Vanhoose, Jonathon Sanders, Cheyenne Adkins, Cayden Lane Titsworth, Emily Grace Titsworth and Bryson Lane McElroy; two brothers, Roy Thomas McElroy and wife Patsy, of Lebanon, and Charles Wayne McElroy and wife Brenda, of Finley; six sisters, Billie Mae Turner and husband John, of Bardstown, Nancy Marie Moore and husband Charles, of Lebanon, Mary Elizabeth Parrott and husband Wallace, of Lebanon, Gloria Lillian McElroy, of Finley, Roberta Ann Lewis and husband Larry, of Willisburg, and Brenda Kay Goatley and husband Charles, of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Afton Leroy McElroy.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church in Campbellsville, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday after 1 p.m. at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral home and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time for the service at the church.
GLASGOW – Nell Perkins, 91, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow.
She was born in Summer Shade, the daughter of the late Virgil and Nona Syree Whitlow. Mrs. Perkins was the owner and operator of Nell’s Art Gallery and loved to work in her garden and especially with her roses. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School class.
Survivors include her son, Maurice Perkins and wife Charlotte, of Glasgow; her daughter, Sandy Johnson and husband Eugene, of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Randy (Mary) Perkins, of Glasgow, Jeff (Teresa) Perkins, of Franklin, Laura (Scott) Griggs, of Louisville, Stacey (Rick) Hughes, of Bowling Green, and Dan (Renna Kay) Pedigo, of Glasgow; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Johnston of Edmonton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tristram Edwin Perkins, and two brothers, Wayne and Don Whitlow.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Benny Henderson Scott
HARDYVILLE – Benny Henderson Scott, 67, of Hardyville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013.
He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam and a retiree of S.K.F. Industries. Benny was born on Monday, Sept. 16, 1946, the son of Opal Scott and the late Leroy Scott, of Hardyville.
Benny is survived by his wife, Barbara Scott, of Hardyville; two sons, Michael Scott and wife Crystal, of Hardyville, and James Allen Scott, of Hardyville; his daughter, Laura Scott, of Lexington; three grandchildren, Emily, Bradley and Joseph Scott; three sisters, Ramona Gardner, of Munfordville, Carol Ann Martin, of Cave City, and Tammy Ritchie, of Bowling Green; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. until time for the funeral on Wednesday at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial to follow in Rock Cemetery in Metcalfe County, under the direction of Winn Funeral Home.
Larry Douglas Shugart
GLASGOW – Larry Douglas Shugart, 69, of Glasgow, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at his home.
Born in Glasgow, he was the son of the late Omer Hardin Shugart and Carrie Jewell Matthews Shugart.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Neal’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
Louise Hope Vibbert
SUMMER SHADE – Louise Hope Vibbert, 91, of Summer Shade, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at NHC in Glasgow.
She was born Sept. 13, 1922, at Sulphur Lick, the daughter of the late Zilpha and Zadie Martin Hope. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by three daughters, Marcella Rich, of Glasgow; Ellen Jacobson, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Elaine (Gordon) Mattingly, of Lexington; three sons, Bobby and John Vibbert, of Summer Shade, and Gary (Tabitha) Vibbert, of Edmonton. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Edalene Hope and Marilyn Grider.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Todd Vibbert; one son, Jimmy Vibbert; two grandchildren; one sister, Melba Jean Hope; and two brothers, Gladwell and Tommy Hope, and one son-in-law, Chet Rich.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at McMurtrey Funeral Home by Brother Gary Richardson. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Summer Shade Cemetery.
