Katrina Kay Craig
PADUCAH – Katrina Kay Craig, 30, of Paducah, formerly of Tompkinsville, died Saturday, April 13, at her residence.
She was married to Shaun Craig, who survives her.
Katrina was born in Glasgow on Nov. 19, 1982, a daughter of Kimberly Ann (Copas) Botts, of Tompkinsville, and Steven Manthie, of Burkesville.
Funeral services will be at Yokley Trible Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Eli Johnson officiating.
Visitation is Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Yokley Cemetery.
Horace Dean Jr.
GLASGOW – Horace Dean Jr., 83, of Glasgow, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at NHC Healthcare Facility.
Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late John Benjamin and Minnie White Dean and husband of the late Georgia Ann Goad Dean. Mr. Dean was a former employee of T. J. Samson Community Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Beth Davis and husband Robert and Patricia Moore and husband Glen, both of Glasgow; a son, John Dean, of Glasgow; two step-children, Debbie Smith and husband Danny and Glen Chyle, both of Morgantown, four grandchildren, Cierra Miller, of Texas, Todd Dean, Ben Dean and Megan Dean, all of Glasgow; a step-granddaughter, Taylor Moore, of Canton, Penn.; two great-grandchildren, Lexus and Benson Dean; a sister, Pansy Runyon, of Glasgow; a niece, Sharon Thomas, of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and two nephews, Tommy Runyon, of Lexington, and Danny Dean, of Florida.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine Handy, and a brother, Dossey Dean.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Billie Bronson Gerald
GAMALIEL – Billie Bronson Gerald, 32, of Gamaliel, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at his home in Gamaliel.
He was the son of Karen Gerald, of Gamaliel.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel.
Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery in Monroe County.
Memorials are suggested to Gamaliel Volunteer Fire Department.
Mrs. Mary Evelyn Glass
LOUISVILLE – Mrs. Mary Evelyn Glass, 86, returned to her Heavenly Father on April 14, 2013.
Among those who preceded her in death include her parents, Clyde and Willie Mae Richardson; husband, Lenville Glass; son, Richard Glass; brothers, William Hensley, Paul and Albert Richardson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Brinda Glass Ritchey (William) and JoAnn Smith (Robert).
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. CST on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at McMurtrey Funeral Home, (2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, Ky. 42166-9451) with interment in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) and on Thursday from 10 a.m. CST until time of service at McMurtrey Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Wanda Jewell Glass
LOUISVILLE – Wanda Jewell Glass, 77, loving wife to the late Jack W. Glass, passed away unexpectedly on April 12, 2013.
She was born to the late Travis R. Sr. and Mamia Rich Watson on December 10, 1935, in Glasgow, Ky.
After raising her children, Wanda worked and put herself through college to become a nurse. She worked at and retired from Kosair Children’s Hospital. Working in ICU and only on 3rd shift where she felt she could do her best because to her that’s when the worst cases came in. She touched many lives and will be remembered for her caring attitude, love for her family, her love for cooking and she was an avid Louisville Cardinals fan.
She is survived by children: Tony (Susan), Sherry Hernandez, and Dean (Theresa); grandchildren: Jeremy, Joshua, Jennifer, Brianna and Savannah; great-grandchildren: Austin, Gage, Jazmein, Abigayle, Jaydon and Justice; as well as brothers: Travis and Royce Watson.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m., at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Hwy., Louisville. Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Cassandra Sue Hernandez
BONNIEVILLE – Cassandra Sue Hernandez, 39, of Bonnieville, passed away. She was a caregiver and of the Baptist faith.
The Harrodsburg native was the daughter of the Carolyn Watts Rambo and Gary W. Rambo, of Bonnieville.
A private service was held with Brooks Funeral Home in charge.
Charlotte Fudge Ollestad
COLUMBIA – Charlotte Fudge Ollestad, 65, of Columbia, formerly of Glasgow, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, after several months illness.
She was born June 14, 1947, in Glasgow, the daughter of Charles Dean and Beulah Jean Sater.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Beulah Jean Grooms Dean Sater; by one son, Michael Overton Fudge in 1992; and by one sister, Virginia Lynn Coomer.
She is survived by her father, Charles Dean, of Elkhart, Texas; by her husband, Richard Ollestad, of Columbia, one stepson, Mitchell Sneed, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Donna Cain of Tampa, Florida; two nieces, Sierra Coomer and Maranda Pierce, both of Edmonton. Also surviving are several relatives and friends. Charlotte was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. William Davenport officiating. Interment is in Haven Hill Cemetery. The family request visiting after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
Velma Emberton Pursley
GLASGOW – Velma Emberton Pursley, 87, of Glasgow, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Barren County Health Care in Glasgow.
She was born in Monroe County, the daughter of the late Ed and Pearl Turner Emberton. Mrs. Pursley was a member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Brooks and husband Jerry, of Lebanon, Tenn., and Brenda Wyatt, of Glasgow; three sons, Benny Pursley and wife Susie, Mark Pursley and Jeff Pursley, all of Glasgow; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Pursley, of Glasgow; one brother, Vick Emberton, of Glasgow; 12 grandchildren, Justin Pursley, Marla Thompson, Michelle Young, Angie Moore, Chris Pursley, Kim Sanders, Kory Pursley, Joseph Wyatt, Heather Parsley, Mandy Birge, Matt Pursley and Will Pursley; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband W.E. “Bill” Pursley; a son, Bobby Pursley; a son-in-law, Wilson Wyatt; two grandchildren, Bryan and Ellena Brooks; four brothers, Rondel, Glen, Quin and Jessie Emberton; and two sisters, Edna Rigney and Nancy Ross.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Rolling Hills Baptist Church, Ky. 1297 in Glasgow, with burial in Bowles Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
Chester Reed Smith
DRY FORK – Chester Reed Smith, 77, of Dry Fork, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at his residence after a sudden illness.
A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Byron Chester Smith and Bera Thomerson Smith. He was a life-long farmer on the family farm and a faithful member of Dry Fork Church of Christ. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army, a member of Austin Tracy Lions Club and an avid pitch player.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Depp Smith; his son, Walter Reed Smith and his wife, Beverly, of Dry Fork; two grandchildren, Trevor Smith and Bethany Smith; one sister, Virginia Simmons, of Glasgow; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Smith, of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cyrus Smith, and his brother-in-law, John Simmons.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Patricia A. Wheeler
CARTHAGE, Tenn. — Patricia A. Wheeler, 52, of Carthage, Tenn., and formerly of Glasgow, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at University Medical Center in Lebanon, Tenn.
Born in Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Etta Vaughn Eatmon.
Survivors include her daughter, Misty Rosado and husband Angel, of Lafayette, Tenn.; one son, J.R. Wheeler and wife Molly, of Glasgow; seven sisters, Wanda Babbit and husband George, of Glasgow, Carolyn Cole and husband Jay, of Glasgow, Debra Emmert and husband Lee, of Glasgow, Tammy Eatmon, of Cave City, Kathy Wheeler, of Glasgow, Elizabeth Lutzen and husband Myron, of Glasgow, Alisha Rich and husband Jimmie, of Tompkinsville; three brothers, Raymond Eatmon and wife Ruby, of Cave City, Kenneth Eatmon and wife Susie, and Ernie Eatmon and wife Katie, all of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Sean Birge, Patricia Garcia, Adrianna Rosado, Patricia Wheeler, Emily Wheeler, Landon Wheeler and Payton Wheeler. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Tarry and Mary Ann Coulter.
Graveside service at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21. All friends and family are welcome to attend. A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
