Linda Lou Hasting
GLASGOW – Linda Lou Hasting, 59, of Glasgow, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at her residence.
Born in Knox, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Earl and Ruth Fisher Risner.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Hasting, of Glasgow.
No services are scheduled at this time. Mrs. Hasting chose cremation.
A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Allen Depp Judd
CAVE CITY – Allen Depp Judd, 58, of Cave City, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Barren County, the son of the late Cecil and Maggie Bragg Judd.
He is survived by two brothers, Sammy Judd, of Cave City, and Charles Judd, of Louisville; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Judd, of Cave City, and Linda Judd, of Louisville; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Frances Jolly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Marshall, Gene and Bobby Judd; and one sister, Ruby Poynter.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Cave City Cemetery. A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Velma E. Staples Smith
GLASGOW – Velma E. Staples Smith, 89, of Glasgow, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Greenwood Nursing & Rehab Center in Bowling Green.
A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Cora Ann Shader Staples. She was a retired employee of Kentucky Pants Company and a member of Coral Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include four children, Tony Smith and wife Kristi, of Colorado, Jon Richardson and wife Nikki, and Jennifer Richardson Atwood, all of Glasgow, Michelle Puckett, of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren, Andy Richardson, Brooklyn Richardson, Ryan Meadow, Andrea Meadow, Nick Meadow, Kristina Garr, Kari Reed, and Toni Lynn Pavlovick; one sister, Doris Warf, of Hiseville; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Ernest M. Smith; one daughter, Brenda Joyce Smith Puckett; two sisters, Frances Garner and Mary Lee Groce; three brothers, J.P. Staples, Earl Thomas Staples and Reverend Richard Staples.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
LEXINGTON – Opal Mae Branstetter Howard, 101, of Lexington and formerly of Tompkinsville, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Pine Meadows Health Care in Lexington. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Burial will be in Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Skaggs Creek Cemetery.
SCOTTSVILLE – Margaret Jane Nickols, 85, of Scottsville, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at NHC in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery #2.
TEMPLE HILL – Clorene Adams Sheffield, 82, of Temple Hill, formerly of Monroe County, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at NHC Health Care in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Poplar Log Cemetery.
