Cecil Raymond Dickson
PRICES CREEK – Cecil Raymond Dickson, 70, of the Prices Creek community in Adair County passed away Tuesday April 23, 2013, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He was born on April 29, 1942, in Barren County, the son of Carl Dickson and the late Lucille Sexton Dickson of the Prices Creek Community.
He is survived by his father, Carl Dickson, of Columbia; wife, Margie R. Keith Dickson, of Columbia; two sons, Jeffrey Keith (Debra) Dickson, of Columbia, Rodger Lee Dickson, of Columbia; one daughter Kim (Leon) Mathews, of Laconia, Ind.; three sisters, Geneva (Coy) England, of Columbia, Judy (Douglas) Spears, of Breeding, Loretta (Elbert) Pennington, of Breeding; four grandchildren, Gary (Christina) Mathews, Allison Mathews, Andrew (Rachel) Mathews and Brandon Mathews; and two great-grandchildren, Raines and Asher Mathews. Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends survive.
He was a member of Corner Stone Church in Metcalfe County, founder of Gospel Sounds Quartet, a truck driver for Bowling Green Freight in Bowling Green, Ky.
Funeral service will be Sunday, April 28, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Clergy officiating will be Brother Roger Poynter and Brother Bobby Neal. Interment in Shirley-Dickson Cemetery, Prices Creek Road. Visitation after 10 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
Joe Rogers Gee
FOUNTAIN RUN –Joe Rogers Gee, 78, of Fountain Run, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.
He was the husband of the late Nancy Laverne Brooks Gee, and son of the late James Tas Gee and Ruby Lee Gee.
Visitation will begin after 12 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel.
Funeral service will be Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel, with burial in Gamaliel Cemetery in Gamaliel.
Memorials are suggested to the Gamaliel Cemetery or the American Diabetes Association.
James Logan Grider Sr.
GRIDERVILLE – James Logan Grider Sr. “J.L.”, 78, of Griderville, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Thelma Patton Grider. He was a retired truck driver, a mason, a member of Teamsters Local 705, and a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Nell Grider; two daughters, Leslie Harper and husband Roger, of Burbank, Ill., and Sheila Hodges and husband Jamie, of Goodnight; one daughter-in-law, Amy Grider of Griderville; seven grandchildren: Ami Revels, Aaron Revels, Katelynn Landers, Ashley Landers, Brian Hodges, Sarah Hodges, and James Logan Grider III; five great-grandchildren: Dakota, Donovan, Nicky, Corbin, and Sophia; one brother, Kenneth “Dopey” Grider and wife Karen, of Danville, Ill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four children: William Grider, Pamela Grider, Mary Lee Revels, and James Logan “Jim” Grider Jr.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Charles ‘Chuck’ Holder
BOWLING GREEN – Charles “Chuck” Holder, 72, of Bowling Green, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Greenview Regional Hospital.
He was the son of the late Charles and Ruby Ina Lacey Holder, and husband of Sue Wade Holder, who survives.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Hardy and Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.
Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
BURKESVILLE – Louise Coe Cary, 67, of Burkesville, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Cumberland County Hospital after an illness. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Living Word Assembly of God, 1515 Albany Road, Burkesville. Burial will follow in Coe Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Burkesville, and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
CAVE CITY – Danny Dale Groce, 63, formerly of Glasgow, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at his residence in Cave City. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. There will be no visitation.
MUNFORDVILLE – Bonnie S. Prescott, 80, of Munfordville, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at her residence. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Munfordville Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
