Frances Jackson Grimsley
GLASGOW – Frances Jackson Grimsley, 81, of Glasgow, formerly of Tompkinsville, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, while in the company of family members at NHC Healthcare.
Frances was born in Tompkinsville, on June 13, 1932, a daughter of the late Marie (Pruitt) and Tas Jackson. In 1947, she married James Edward Grimsley, who preceded her in death.
She worked as a cook at Tompkinsville Elementary School for 35 years and was a member of Mount Poland Baptist Church.
Frances is survived by one daughter, Connie, wife of Roger Walker of Glasgow; one son, James, husband of Josie Grimsley of Gordonsville, Tenn; one sister, Jean Hunter of Tompkinsville; nine grandchildren, Byron Grimsley, Nicole Trull, Daniel Grimsley, Rachel Bryan, Kelly Jones, Jamie Pennington, Christy Dixon, Jeremy Walker, Andrea Lamb; and two step-grandchildren, Pam Flowers and Tina Gregory. Francis is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Ray Grimsley; one daughter, Sandra Pennington Kilmon; three sisters, Melene Goforth, Zora Thompson and Alice Cain; and one brother, Maurice T. Jackson.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, with Brother John Ford officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 1, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 2, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
MUNFORDVILLE – Alma Sturgeon, 75, of Munfordville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at her home in Munfordville.
She was the daughter of the late Harry Miles and the late Lula Thompson Miles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Klell.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Brooks Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at Brooks Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, with Brother Scott Coats officiating. Interment will be at Center Point Cemetery in Munfordville.
PARK CITY – Marjorie Dean Salley Toms, 81, of Park City, lifelong partner of Robert L. “Wimpy” Toms, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 9, 1932, to the late Sylvester and Nell May Myers Salley of Kyrock. She joined in Heaven with her mother, Nell, and father, Sylvester, precious daughter, Beverly Jean Gillon, and brother, James Salley.
Marjorie Dean was a bookkeeper for Toms Shell Service, a homemaker, a member of Park City Fire Department Women's Auxiliary and a member of Park City United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was on the administrative council.
Marjorie Dean is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert L. “Wimpy” Toms of Park City; one son, Robbie Toms and wife, Teresa, of Park City; six grandchildren, Lee Ann Gillon Daugherty and husband, Patrick, of Morgantown; Col. Eddie Gillon and wife, Amy, of Arlington Va.; Deborah Gillon Burks and husband, Eddie, of Glasgow; Amanda Gillon McCord and husband Scott, of Park City; and Casey Toms Parker and husband, Tommy, and Dawn Toms Smith and husband , Steven, both of Glasgow; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert “Raleigh” Salley and wife, Leola, and Clyde Salley and wife, Lou Ira, both of Park City; two sisters, Barbara Clark and husband, Sam, of Louisville and Judy Wallace of Park City.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 1, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
