Royce Lavon Alexander
GLASGOW – Royce Lavon Alexander, 80, of Glasgow, was called home Nov. 18, 2013, in Glasgow.
The Edmonton County native was born to the late James Floyd Alexander and the late Virgie Estes Alexander. He was a truck driver for Square Deal Lumber and a member of Basil Chapel United Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Hughes Alexander; two sons, Donnie Alexander (Debbie), of Glasgow, and Jim Alexander (Jo) of Knob Lick; one daughter, Brenda Compton (Fiancé Gary Jones), of Glasgow; one son-in-law, Dennis Hatcher, of Cave City; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Hatcher, and one grandson, Donnie Wayne Alexander.
Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at the funeral home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
Joseph F. Hishmeh
SILVER SPRING, Md. – Joseph F. Hishmeh, 78, of Silver Spring, Md., passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Holy Cross Hospital in Maryland after a lengthy battle with emphysema.
Born in Ramallah, Palestine on April 2, 1935, Mr. Hishmeh was preceded in death by his parents, Fahed and Badiah Totah Hishmeh.
Survivors include his wife, Magda Botto Hishmeh, of Silver Spring, Md.
Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Our Lady of The Caves Catholic Church in Horse Cave with burial to follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Reba C. Houchens
GLASGOW – Reba C. Houchens, 94, of Glasgow, and formerly of Cooktown, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.
Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Napoleon Ellis and Ida Elmore Ellis Wright. Mrs. Houchens was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Point Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Nell Taylor (A.R.), of Glasgow, Emma Harvey, of Austin, and Rose Christie, of Glasgow; six grandchildren, Wanda Turner (Terry), Michelle Harvey, Marshall Houchens, Kim Taylor, Darren Taylor (special friend, Donna Peden) and Sarah Christie; four great-grandchildren, Ben and Zack Turner, Brittany Taylor and Tristin Christie; three step-great-grandchildren, Chase Bailey, Jeff Christie and Jennifer Thurman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Georgie H. Houchens; a sister, Minnie Bell Shoopman; a brother, Lucian Ellis; and three half-brothers, Herbert, Elbert and Lesley Ellis.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Caney Fork Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday.

CHESTERFIELD, Va. – Mary Martin Patterson, 51, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 17, 2013.
Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Taylor; her sister, Shelia Martin; her brother, David and and his wife Dianna Martin; nephew, Chad and his wife Tina Martin; nieces, Caroline, Sue and Morgan.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 4 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7151 Belmont Road, Chesterfield, Va. 23832 for a memorial service with a gathering to follow. Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was the son of the late Frank Sr. and Ethel Priddy Prather, and husband of the late Jill Dixon Prather.
