William Andrew (Andy) Holston
GLASGOW – William Andrew (Andy) Holston, of Glasgow, died July 26, 2013, in Louisville, following a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bette, and his three daughters and their families.
A celebration of life and memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at First United Methodist Church in Glasgow.
Helen Humphrey McKay
TAMPA, Fla. – Helen Humphrey McKay, 82, a 57-year resident of Tampa, passed away Aug. 15, 2013.
She was originally from Glasgow. Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Spencer, and her second husband, George McKay.
She is survived by her sons, Chuck Spencer (Mary Alice) and Jimmy Spencer; grandson, Charlie Spencer and granddaughter, Jessie Dennis (Tim); and great-grandson, Caleb.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, MacDill Chapel, 605 S. MacDill Ave., Tampa, Fla. Funeral service will be Monday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. at Manhattan Baptist Church, 4300 S. Manhattan Ave., Tampa, Fla. Interment to follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
Hubert Glenn ‘Fuzzy’ Morgan
GLASGOW – Hubert Glenn “Fuzzy” Morgan, 56, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, in Glasgow.
Mr. Morgan was born in Glasgow to the late Raymond Cecil and Myrtle Jane Vibbert Morgan. He was the owner and operator of Glenn’s Ditchwitch Service.
Survivors include one daughter, Crystal Cary and husband Joe, of Glasgow; one son, Scott Morgan and wife Neita, of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Cheyenne Cary, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Adam Morgan; one brother, Herbert Morgan, of Columbia; two sisters, Linda Morgan, of Glasgow, and Beverly Maupin, of Warsaw; caregivers, Edgar and Nancy Witcher, of Glasgow.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild, Cheyenne Lynn Morgan.
Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Union #2 Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
Stanley Eugene ‘Smitty’ Smith
GLASGOW – Stanley Eugene “Smitty” Smith, 82, of Glasgow, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
The Barren County native was the son of the late Roger C. and Nola Miller Smith. Mr. Smith was a retired farmer in the Temple Hill/Freedom community and was a member of the Methodist faith. He loved life, his family and loved and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed serving his community and was instrumental in the development of the N.F.O. in Barren County and the little league program at Temple Hill.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Caroljean Mayes Smith; three daughters, Cheryle Lane Stonerock and husband Chris, Cara Stinson and husband Ricky, and Jill Leftwich and husband Joe, all of Glasgow; six grandchildren, Kristen Copas and husband Wade, Matt Stonerock and wife Sarah, Daniel Stinson, Ben Leftwich, Katie Leftwich and Cheyanne Smith; a great-grandson, Gavin Copas; his sister, Rebecca Wilson, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and his half-brother, Dale Smith, of Tucson, Ariz. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Stanley Wayne Smith; grandson, Jason Leftwich; two sisters, Katherine Peden and Sara Bowers; and a brother, James F. Smith.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday morning until time for the service.
GLASGOW – Ella Mae Bryant, 83, of Glasgow, and a native of Metcalfe County, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Glenview Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Queens Chapel Baptist Church. Interment will be in Wood Family Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Burnam & Son Mortuary Inc. in Bowling Green.
GLASGOW – Jackie Ray (Jack) Christie, 67, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery.
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Joe Luther “Jay” Rice, 82, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church in Horse Cave. Interment will be at Woodsonville Memorial Gardens, Munfordville. Brooks Funeral Home in Munfordville is in charge of arrangements.
