Warren L. Goad
GLASGOW — Warren L. Goad, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
He was born in Tompkinsville, to George and Alice (Emberton) Goad.
He was a retired banker from New Farmers National Bank and served 50 years in the banking industry, was a veteran of World War II, a member of Glasgow Baptist Church, Glasgow Rotary Club and Glasgow Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Cleva (Carter) Goad; his son: Richard Goad; his two daughters: Evelyn Culver (Larry) and Barbara Taylor (Ted); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, 801 N. Race St., Glasgow, with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday, 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday prior to services.
Mattie Frances Jessee
EDMONTON — Mattie Frances Jessee, 84, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia.
She was born Aug. 13, 1924, the daughter of Elvin Romines and Felcy Gibson Romines.
She was a homemaker and member of Mosby Ridge Presbyterian Church
Surviving are three sons: Wayne (Viola) Jessee of Columbia, Edward (Ima) Jessee of Edmonton, James (Vickie) Jessee of Columbia; two daughters: Linda (Austin) Bragg of Edmonton, Connie (Danny) Phelps of Edmonton. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Steve Bragg, Charlotte Young, Jonathan Jessee, Jessica Phelps, Chasity Janes, Brittany Dile, Tommy Franklin and Sheila Franklin, 16 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Lucille Fields of Columbus, Ind.
Mattie was preceded in death by husband, Herman Jessee; father, Elvin Romines; mother, Felcy Romines; and sister, Margaret Rotan Romines.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton. Interment will follow in Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received at Butler Funeral Home from 2 until 8 p.m. today (Friday) and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
Calvin Buford Hogan
CAVE CITY — Calvin Buford Hogan, 81, died at his residence on Thursday, June 25, 2009.
The Hart County native was the son of the late Robert and Ruby Poynter Hogan and the widower of Edith Hatcher Hogan. He was a farmer and member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son: Douglas (Sandra) Hogan, Cave City; two brothers: Wesley Hogan and Ellis Hogan, both of Cave City; a sister: Jessel Isenberg, Oklahoma; and a grandson: Troy Hogan, Cave City.
Funeral services with the Rev. Billy Vincent officiating will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after noon Friday.
Christina Mathis Johnson
OAKLAND — Christina Mathis Johnson, 52, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Donald J. Mathis and Dolores Greunewald Mathis.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Johnson.
Funeral services will be Sunday, June 28, at 2 p.m. at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Little Muddy Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lynda Kathleen ‘Lynn’ Long
UPTON — Lynda Kathleen “Lynn” Long, 60, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Henry Stinnett and Mary Ballinger Stinnett of Louisville, who survives.
A memorial service will be conducted at Upton Baptist Church on Saturday, June 27, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Munfordville Lions Club.
