Marvin Ray Meek
GLASGOW – Marvin Ray Meek, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 30, 2007. Mr. Meek was born in Glasgow on April 15, 1932. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from National Distillery and was currently employed at American General Life Insurance.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Lynn Owens and Tammy Lou Spears, both of Glasgow; two granddaughters, Mariah and Madison Owens; one grandson, Zackery Spears; one sister, Attie Morgan; one brother, John Paul Meek; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Timmy Ray Meek; his parents, Bishop and Bracie Meek; three brothers, Powell, Brent and Roy Meek; three sisters, Thelma Nelstead, Ruth Humphrey and Edna Martin.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Salem Methodist Church with burial in the New Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
Lecil M. Pruitt
MOUNT HERMON – Lecil M. Pruitt, 77, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at the Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born on Aug. 23, 1929, in Monroe County and was a son of the late James Franklin Pruitt and Victoria (Short) Pruitt. Mr. Pruitt was a rural carrier in Metcalfe and Monroe counties and a postmaster at Mount Hermon Post Office, where he retired. He was a member of the Mud Lick Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in World War II.
Survivors include three daughters: Sharon Lynne (David) Goetsch of Fairview Heights, Ill., Elizabeth Ann (Bob) Crider of Columbus, Ind., and Teresa Gay (Curtis) Grove of Portland, Tenn.; three sons: Gary Martin (Lorie) Pruitt of Greenville, James Michael (Charlotte) Pruitt of Glasgow, and Kevin Lee Pruitt of Plainfield, Ind.; three sisters: Athalene Crowe of Tompkinsville, Donnie Howard of Beech Grove, Ind., and Agnes Perdue of Paducah; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen Verice (Gentry) Pruitt, who died Jan. 12, 2007. They were married on Sept. 30, 1955, in Bowling Green. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond Pruitt, Robert Pruitt, Alva Pruitt and Paul Pruitt; seven sisters, Ella Melton, Ree Jackson, Hazel Hunter, Lola Pruitt, Effie Jackson, Vernelle Pruitt and Bonnie Hope.
Funeral services will be at Strode Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, with Glen Crowe officiating. Disposition will be in the Bailey Cemetery in Monroe County. Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday after 8 a.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Nona Catherine Oaks
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Nona Catherine Oaks, 87, formerly of Glasgow, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, in New Albany, Ind. She was a daughter of the late Clyde and Elsie Daffron Chaplin.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, Glasgow, with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
TOMPKINSVILLE – Charlie Crawford, 87, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at the Palace Health & Rehab, Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. He was a son of the late Creed and Tessie (Blythe) Crawford. He is survived by his wife, Gladys (Abney) Crawford.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Strode Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation wil be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Johnnie Heady II
LEBANON, Tenn. – Johnnie Heady II, 26, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007.
Survivors include his parents: Johnnie and Delores Heady of Auburntown, Tenn.
Funeral services will be today at 1 p.m. at the Sellars Funeral Home, 313 W. Baddour Pkwy., Lebanon, Tenn., with interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Rowena Pearl Riggs
MUNFORDVILLE – Rowena Pearl Riggs, 93, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Noah and Martha Jane Moody Riggs.
