Bobby “Bob” Birge, 80, of Tompkinsville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Skyline Medical Center.
Bobby was born in Tompkinsville on Nov. 16, 1933, a son of the late Nettie Jane (Birge) and Ray E. Birge. He was a heavy machine operator.
On Dec. 11, 1952, at Monroe County Courthouse, he married Phinell (Clarkson) Birge, who survives him.
Bobby is survived by a daughter, Gail Birge, of Cave City;
two sons, Nelson Birge, of Fountain Run; Ricky Birge, of Tompkinsville; five grandchildren, Scotty Jackson, Kerry Rhoton, Nicholas Birge, Adam Birge, Derrick Birge; four stepgrandchildren, Miranda Staples, Bailee Staples, Katie Bradshaw and Will Bradshaw; great-grandchildren, Savannah Jackson Lindsey, Annie Jackson, Jamie Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Kaden Jackson, Brooklyn Rhoton, Briley Rhoton, Bailey Rhoton and Chandler Birge.
Bobby is also survived by six sisters, Dorene Hard, of Scottsville, Evie Moore, of Louisville, Nancy McIntyre, of Summer Shade, Linda Long, of Indianapolis, Ind., Brenda Moore, of Tompkinsville, and Sondra Richy, of Temple Hill, and one bother, Harold Birge, of Glasgow.
He is preceded in death by three siblings, Merlena Birge, Kellie and Shelly Birge.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home with burial in White Cemetery. Visitation is in progress and will continue from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
