Sammy Joel Kissee
BYRDSTOWN, Tenn. – Sammy Joel Kissee, 66, Byrdstown, Tenn., died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
A native of Danville, Ill., he was a son of the late Robert and Flossie Burkett Kissee.
He was a maintenance superintendent for Alcoa, an avid hunter, lifetime member of the NRA, and a U.S. Marine, having served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969.
Survivors include his wife, Laverne Hatcher Kissee; one daughter, Pamela Rector and husband Kenny, of Lafayette, Ind.; two granddaughters, Kendra and Maegan Rector; three stepchildren, Tony Robertson and wife Kim, of Glasgow, Mary Lois Robertson, of Sulphur Well, and Jackie Evans, of Indiana.
A memorial service will be conducted in Indiana at a later date. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
William ‘Bill’ Oliver
MOUNT HERMON — William Reed “Bill” Oliver, 84, of Mount Hermon, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
Born at Mount Hermon, he was the son of the late Virgil and Laura Richey Oliver. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bill was retired from Sorensen Mfg. after 30 years and was a member of Dover Baptist Church at Mount Hermon.
Survivors include his fiancé, Noel Peers, of Glasgow; a brother, Bernice Oliver and wife Evelyn, of Glasgow; a nephew, Todd Oliver and wife Sharon, of Glasgow; and three great-nephews, Alex Oliver, Jeremy Page and wife Alicia, and Derek Page and wife Danielle, all of Glasgow.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday.
GLASGOW — Merle Jean Robbins, 83, of Glasgow, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Glenview Healthcare Facility.
Born in Tulsa, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Edward O. and Gena Potter Gerkin and wife of the late Victor L. Robbins.
Survivors include a son, John Robbins and wife Sarah, of Glasgow; a daughter, Blossom Mills and husband Bob, of South Bend, Ind.; six grandchildren, Cyrstal Smith of Adolphus, Michael Robbins of Bowling Green, Stephanie Stark of Glasgow, William Mills of Michigan, Robert Mills of South Bend, Ind., and Linda Mills of Indianapolis, Ind.; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Blackwell.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
