Rondell Gene ‘Ron’ Claywell
LOUISVILLE – Rondell Gene “Ron” Claywell, 74, passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Louisville.
Ron was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elva Easter Claywell; a sister, Robbie Frances; and his brothers, Donald and Hiram Claywell.
Ron is survived by his sisters, Irene (Ronnie) Kutter, of South Dakota, and Eloise (William) Veach Sr., of Louisville; brothers, E.J., Nyman (Betty) and Gary (Polly) Claywell, all of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway.
Ron’s funeral service will be Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd., Radcliff, Ky., at noon.
Frank Chester Dawson Jr.
TOMPKINSVILLE – Frank Chester Dawson Jr., 73, of Tompkinsville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Saint Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Tenn.
Frank was born in Bowling Green, on Nov. 30, 1939, a son of the late Johnnie Mae (Patterson) and Frank Chester Dawson Sr.
In 1978, in Springfield, Tenn., he married Martha (Tooley) Dawson, who survives him.
Frank served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.
Frank was retired as a LPN and was of the Baptist faith.
Frank is survived by three daughters, Latasha (Erik) Bell, of Louisville, Lynn (Victor) McGee, of Houston, Texas, and Melinda Shay Huffman, of Louisville; four sons, Marcelius Dawson, of Atlanta, Ga., Michael J. Dawson, of Tompkinsville, Frank Dawson 1st, of Houston, Texas, and Vandal (Regina) Dawson, of Paloalpa, Calif.; 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Wendell Tooley, Fontice Piipkin (Edna), both of Tompkinsville, and Paul Evans, of Bowling Green; uncle, Keith Maxey, of Tompkinsville; and a host of nieces and nephews, of Tompkinsville.
Frank was preceded in death by one brother, Lonnie Dawson.
Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 20, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. Cremation followed.
Barbara Lou Hicks Hurt
SUMMER SHADE – Barbara Lou Hicks Hurt, 64, of Summer Shade, died Oct. 20, 2013, at Vanderbilt Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late Ralph and Luzadie Hicks.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell Gene Hurt.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m., at McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
