CUB RUN – Loretta Burba, 83, of Cub Run, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at her residence in Cub Run.
She was the daughter of the late Omar Hatfield and the late Ida Hawkins Hatfield.
She is survived by her husband, Sylvester Burba.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Brooks Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Brooks Funeral Home with Brother Leland Childress and Brother Larry Burba officiating. Interment will be in Union Light Cemetery, Mammoth Cave.
Margaret Seymour Davis
HORSE CAVE – Margaret Seymour Davis, 87, of Horse Cave, passed away Wednesday Oct. 9, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was a native of Hart County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Seymour and Lena Seymour, and by her husband, Ernest Davis.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Winn Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.
Mary Jane Carter Monday
TOMPKINSVILLE – Mary Jane Carter Monday, 87, of Tompkinsville, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at her home in Tompkinsville.
She was the wife of the late Carl Eugene Monday, and daughter the late Sam Bell Carter and Bertha Walker Carter.
Visitation will be after noon on Saturday and after 8 a.m. on Sunday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Smith, Monday and Ross Cemetery in Monroe County. Memorials are suggested to Smith, Monday and Ross Cemetery.
MAGNOLIA – Boyce Ray, 70, of Magnolia, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at his home in Magnolia.
He was the son of the late Harvey Ray and the late Leona Murray Ray.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Ray.
Visitation is in progress and will continue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Brooks Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Three Forks Bacon Creek Church Cemetery with Brother Ricky Shirley officiating. Interment will be at the cemetery in Magnolia.
Sandra Kaye Ross
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Our beloved Sandra Kaye Ross, 67, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013.
Sandra was born July 2, 1946, in Glasgow, and lived there until she moved with her husband, Joe, to Pensacola in 1995. Her life was centered on her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Bowles and Euell Houchens; sister Sheila Williams; and granddaughter, April Ottens.
Surviving are her husband, Joe Ross; daughters, Kathy Cawthorn, Karen Dill, Tina Conner, Dana Vibbert Ross and Terri Riddle; grandchildren, Brandon Cawthorn, Chase Smith, Haley and Cammie Dill, Joey Carney, Tyler Davenport, Noah Conner and Daniel and Jacob Riddle; great-grandchildren, Kassie, Isaac and Jasmine; sisters, Colleen Mathews and Sue Stamper; and brother, Billy Houchens.
Funeral service was at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Pastor Allan Ford officiated at Family-Funeral & Cremation, 7253 Plantation Road, Pensacola, Fla.
Ralph Douglas Smith
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Ralph Douglas Smith, 88, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Gateway Hospital.
Ralph was born in Marrowbone on Sept. 22, 1925, to the late John and Bessie (Abney) Smith. Ralph served our country in the United States Marine Corps from 1943-1945 and received the Purple Heart during World War II. After leaving the Marines, he spent many years as an auto mechanic. He was a pilot and became a cropduster in the Glasgow area. He went on to be part of the Air Force Reserves for a short time from 1970-1973 serving as a staff sergeant in the 1st AMP Amphibious TB and Tractor.
Ralph also became an auctioneer and owned and operated the Ralph Smith Auction Service for around 31 years, as well as, a baseball card shop and was a Howard Miller Clock dealer. His recent hobbies include flowers and fruit trees. He has been a member of the Evansville Coin Club, the Clock Association, UHL Collectors Society, the Indiana Auctioneers Association and the VFW Post #1114.
Ralph is survived by daughter, Lana Sue (Larry Wunderlich) Nevil, of Elberfeld, Ind.; sons, Charles D. Smith, of Tell City, Ind.; Jimmy W. (Yvonne) Smith of Breckinridge County; grandchildren, David “D.J.” and Dustin Nevil, David, Brandon and Derek Smith, Susan Hinton, Leigh Anne Wright; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Lily Nevil, Rebecca and Elizabeth Smith, Kristin Embry and Hunter Wright.
Ralph was preceded in death by parents and his wife, Virginia Lee Renfro Smith.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, Ind., 47711 with Pastor Steve Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at Browning Funeral Home.
RUSSELLVILLE – Jane Troup, 83, of Russellville, formerly of Hart County, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Medical Center of Franklin in Franklin.
She was the daughter of the late William Mulligan and the late Lula Mulligan and wife of the late Elwood T. Troup.
